Again, this place isn't too far from home. Me being a New Yorker and Connecticut native I have had some of the best pizza in my opinion. Chicago here I come!!!! :D
Ok, so once inside you already know that this is a place that is familiar with the community. People are coming in and know the staff very comfortably.
Now one thing I've conditioned myself to do is know that all pizza places are different in their own way but one thing that I should expect is a great sauce. A signature taste. Something that's unique to them.
Okay, the signature pizza here is this "Big Ass Slice". Let's go with this. I go with a sausage, pepperoni & onion Big Ass Slice. My niece goes with a pepperoni Big Ass Slice. Also get some wings in the mix. Honey Mustard for me & Mild for my niece.
TV's in the joint have me watching the USA vs Mexico road to Russia soccer match while we wait.
I've had big NY slices but nothing like this. This "Big Ass Slice" is a meal in its own right. Good taste. No, it's not what I am used to from back home but definitely a good eat. The cool thing is the pizza slicer that's given to you as you get this big slice. You don't lift this pizza up and shove it down your throat. You slice this baby up. It's their signature thing and you feel as part of this pizzeria as the community does as well. Good sauce, good taste, good cheese. Look thru the window and watch them make pizza thru the window.
Wings were cooked on point! The mild was a little too hot for my niece and my honey mustard was spicy. Wasn't expecting that for a honey mustard taste. Don't get me wrong. It was really good and I actually liked my wings. But didn't expect spicy honey mustard wings, just honey mustard. They were cooked right. I did order some honey BBQ wings to take home for my sis and they were perfect!!!
Other than the miss on the wings we ordered this is definitely a place to come to fill your belly and get familiar.
Very friendly service. Very cozy quarters in this place so don't have claustrophobia. Make sure you're there early cause this is a busy place during peak hours.
Already been here 3 times and the "Big Ass Slice" is worth it's name!!!
Get familiar with Pizza on 87. Sit ouside. Relax and feel at home with family.
Gonna open up the menu a little more on my next...
Read more10/13/17 So our family has once again given Pizza 87 our business. We have ordered from them about 3 more times since my last edit/review. I decided the only way I will order from there is if I make sure I place my order with Tracey and Tracey only. She is the only one who won't screw up my order. If I call before her shift I will callback when she's working. I have found that is the only way to get my order right. I will only pick up/ pay for my order from her. She double checks my order before I even pay. I truly hope the owner realizes she has taken care of us by going above and beyond to make sure we have the best customer experience. We can now go back to calling this "our spot" Thank you Tracey.
Well I wish I could leave it at 5 stars.. But the last order we had with them was just awful. We have given this place chance after chance and its only gotten worse. The service has gone downhill, the food isn't even edible. This place has turned into a shop full of teens who just want a paycheck. It's definitely not what my family fell in love with 2 years ago. You have lost a very loyal family from all the mistakes, burnt food, wrong orders, incompetence from employees, and total lack of customer service. Sad to say this isn't "our spot" any longer. Prior review: I was lucky enough to be introduced to this little joint 2 years ago when my husband(then bf) took me on a date here. I used to drive by it everyday and had no idea what amazingness I was missing out on!!! I absolutely love, love, love this place. The pizza, wings, garlic knots are mouth watering goodness. We eat here at least once maybe twice a week. In fact, right now I have leftovers from "our spot" In The fridge now..🍕🍕 The food, of course is great but a big part of why we keep coming back is due to the amazing, caring, friendly staff that keeps my family going back. Traci and Maritza are always smiling, along with making you feel welcome. These ladies have become our extended pizza fam. Go check this place out. You...
Read moreBefore my last experience I would have given this place five stars. We found this place as a family a few months ago and we fell in love. We go there every few weeks and spend well over $150. The last time I went I was bitterly disappointed. We spent $160 as a family and when I asked for one extra ketchup to go with my basket of french fries (You get a huge basket and one two ounce ketchup) they had the nerve to try to charge us $0.50. 50 cents for ketchup?!?! I was very tempted to walk across the parking lot and get a bunch of ketchup packets to leave on all of the tables. I could understand if we were some punk kids that ordered one slice and then were asking for a bunch of free condiments ...but we weren't. We were a large family who spent $160. I ordered an antipasto salad and was given approximately a dollar worth of pepperoni and $1 worth of ham... $8 worth of olives and the rest was lettuce and the other vegetables. I was very disappointed in the fact that I spent $12 on that salad. The crew never really seems to be happy to be there but I can overlook that, being that the food is great and the place accommodates a larger family with their atmosphere. We've met the owner and we're pleasantly pleased with how awesome of a guy he was but I'm very disappointed in the crew and the fact that I was going to be charged 50 cents for the 2 oz ketchup for this giant basket of fries I had. Needless to say I didn't pay the $0.50 because of the principal... I'd rather eat them dry before I pay $0.50 for 2 oz of ketchup. I'm pretty disappointed because I really...
