I’m on a quest to find the best chimichanga in the world, and my journey has led me here, to Tacos El Paisa.
On my universal 13 point scale of chimichanga deliciousness, El Paisa ranks a strong 10 out of 13. The tortilla was perfectly fried and delicious. It was a good sized portion, with more beans and rice than usually provided by similar restaurants. The price, however, was considerably more expensive at $15 for the chimi plate.
I always order a bean and cheese chimi, and sometimes other places do give a discount for the vegetarian option, but not here. I never expect it, but it’s a nice gesture when they do.
El Paisa had okay rice, slightly over salted beans, and way over-limed green tomatillo salsa. Their cheese quality seemed good, and again, their tortilla was delicious. The pico was fresh and chunky and flavorful, but the lack of bedding lettuce with the chimi was a slight disappointment.
Overall, a good experience. Pretty spendy, in my opinion, but a solid chimi that packs a lot of flavor. I had to sit on the couch for a half hour after eating it, so if that’s any indication of how filling it was, rest assured it’s a...
Read moreI've searched far and wide to find the best tacos in the South East Valley. Something that could hold up against the venerable Tacos El Gordo in San Diego and Vegas.
At last, my search might be over.
Up until now, the best ones have always been from random carnicerias. But, I stopped into this place randomly after passing it, and am so glad I did.
The meat is delicious, the tortillas are outstanding. The plate comes with random extras like sauteed onions and the grilled jalapeno. The tacos are reasonably large for street tacos. The slightly more expensive tacos are big and satisfying and full of food. The salsas are varied and delicious.
Someone's said this place is more expensive than other places? I dunno....my tacos were only 2$ a pop and they didn't skimp on filling. Other people ordered burritos, and they were huge and way above par...
My only complaint is they don't have buche, my favorite. I got lengua, pastor and cabeza tho and was not disappointed.
Restaurant was very clean and service was excellent.
I almost wish I hadn't found this place - it's gonna be a problem for my wallet and...
Read more4.5 stars. One of my fave taco places in the valley! Street tacos are just $1 Mon-Thurs, so this is a great Taco Tuesday stop. Tacos are pretty straightforward and simple, but done really, really well. Double corn tortillas and garnished with just onion and cilantro. Their al pastor and grilled chicken in particular are out of this world. I wouldn't normally order grilled chicken, because I'm all about carnitas or carne asada, but we got one once by mistake, and they are so good! The al pastor is some of the most flavorful I've had.
Their fresh salsa bar has several options, and my faves are the green and the one that looks oily. No idea what this is called, but don't be intimidated by it! Try it!
I stick with the tacos because they are soo good, but they do have combo plates, burritos, etc also. The store is always sparkling clean, and staff...
