I am a regular at Brown Dog Deli in Charleston, and I must say, it is an absolutely wonderful experience every time! From the moment I walk in, I am greeted with a warm and friendly atmosphere that makes me feel right at home.
One of the highlights of my visits is the free dog treats they have outside for our furry friends. As a dog owner, it's heartwarming to see that Brown Dog Deli goes the extra mile to make our four-legged companions feel welcome and cared for. It's a small gesture that truly sets this place apart.
Meeting the owner, Wes, is always a pleasure. He is an absolute gem and his passion for creating a welcoming and enjoyable dining experience is truly commendable. Wes goes above and beyond to ensure that every guest, including our furry friends, feels valued and taken care of. His dedication to customer satisfaction is evident in every aspect of Brown Dog Deli.

It's a happy and vibrant place that adds to the overall dining experience. The attention to detail in the decor is impressive and adds to the charm of the restaurant.
Now, let's talk about the food. The Green Latifah Smoothie at Brown Dog Deli is a true delight. Packed with fresh, green goodness, it's the perfect way to start your day or enjoy as a refreshing pick-me-up. The combination of flavors is perfectly balanced, making it a must-try on the menu.
The vanilla lattes at Brown Dog Deli are a dream come true for coffee lovers. Made with rich and creamy vanilla, they are the perfect blend of sweetness and caffeine. It's the ideal way to indulge in a comforting and delicious beverage.
The meatball sandwich at Brown Dog Deli is a hit with my son, and for good reason. The meatballs are juicy and flavorful, and the bread is perfectly toasted. It's a satisfying and hearty sandwich that never disappoints.
As for me, I absolutely love the panini options at Brown Dog Deli. Whether it's the classic ham and cheese or the mouthwatering turkey and avocado, every panini is made with care and attention to detail. The flavors are perfectly balanced, and each bite is a delight.
Now, let's talk about the pop tarts. They are simply to die for! The strawberry pop tart is my go-to treat at Brown Dog Deli. The crust is incredibly flakey and delicious, and the hot filling is pure perfection. It's a sweet indulgence that I can't resist.
Last but not least, I must mention the staff at Brown Dog Deli. They are attentive, kind, and always ready to go the extra mile to ensure a memorable dining experience. Their friendly and professional demeanor adds to the overall positive atmosphere of the restaurant.

Read moreThe menu was all bark and no bite. They were on a wait and that was 20 minutes, but no pagers or text notifications so you had to stand outside and wait in the sun with no chairs and one small (and occupied) bench. The menu is funky and tries to be adventurous, but the execution was weak.
I had the French dip grilled cheese and while the bread was toasted perfectly, the plastic cup of bland powder mix au jus was tipped on delivery to the table so the bread was soggy and falling apart quickly. The condiments were well made and the loaded potato salad was good, but I ordered a French dip for the meat, and what a let down. They apparently don't have much space so I'm guessing they used fully cooked pre sliced roast beef which was grey all the way through, bland, and did a complete disservice to the dish. I'd rather they didn't offer it if the only option was meat that convenience stores use.
Sodas were all bottled and there's no fryer, so chips and cold sides only. Trying to wash hands before lunch was also a challenge as there's one single restroom and a line at all times. Lastly, my chair and my wife's chair were missing a foot so not only wobbly, but I almost fell over when first sitting bc of the "historic" wood floor and the missing chair foot. Really all of it wouldn't be terrible, but that meat was a waste of time given the other efforts made.
Oh, and I don't recall reading anywhere in advance, but they add a merchant fee for using a card to pay which is highly uncommon, and worse if they don't tell...
Read more80s themed deli! The wall are covered in movie posters, classic games, game cartridges and even old cell phones. The food is a little pricey but the quality of ingredients, flavor craft and portions match how much they are charging. All sides are separate which is a bit annoying, but that is my only complaint.
While most if the cliental is made of college students and locals they are very dog friendly and while the space is tight they will accommodate wheelchairs and strollers happily. The bathroom even has a full sized wooden baby changing table!
I had the daily special soup and sandwich. Which was amazing. My host always gets the turkey & jam sandwich which balanced the sweet & savory with goat cheese and bitter arugula perfectly.
I want to go back and try the BLT and their java date peanutbutter chocolate shake.
Update: the java shake was bitter from the chocolate & coffee balanced with the sweet from the banana, date and coconut milk, but not sugar sweet. I loved it. While the blt was THE BEST blt I have ever had. And that is a go to order for me. I have had pimento blts I have had roasted tomato blts but never a pimento fried green tomato blt on what tasted like scratch made Texas toast! Id prefer arugula to cut the richness of the pimento, fry & bacon, but the lettuce was still...
