Bethel United Methodist Church — Attraction in Charleston

We attended as guests on Easter. Friendly congregation. Welcoming environment. There was a healthy mix of young families and retirees. There's snacks and coffee in the fellowship hall between the services.

Traditional worship with a big old organ as well as a pretty talented choir.

Most churches are a reflection of their local community and in the case of this church seems entirely Caucasian. This observation is not in any way a criticism of this particular congregation; just a reality of how most churches racial profile reflects that of its geographic surroundings.

DO NOT use this church for your wedding. Mollie (the church’s apparent wedding director) was insanely rude. She wouldn’t even wait for the grandmother and started the ceremony without her!!
