The Pinch is a stunning, design-forward hotel that offers an upscale, residential experience unmatched by typical boutique stays in Charleston. Its full kitchens and exceptional location make it a top choice for anyone seeking comfort and style. ||Location and Atmosphere (5/5)|Located perfectly just steps off King Street in the historic district, The Pinch offers immediate access to Charleston's best shopping, dining, and landmarks, yet it maintains a sense of exclusivity and privacy. The hotel itself is an architectural marvel, blending restored Victorian buildings (dating back to 1843) with a stylish, modern addition. The common spaces—from the cozy, curated lobby to the elegant outdoor courtyard with a fireplace—feel like the high-end living room of a very chic friend. The entire property is infused with personality, featuring eclectic art, bold wallpaper, and a sophisticated, inviting energy.||Accommodations and Amenities (5/5)|This is where The Pinch truly distinguishes itself. The rooms feel like a luxury apartment. The standard amenities are outstanding:||Fully Equipped Kitchens: Every unit includes a gourmet kitchen with a stovetop, refrigerator, dishwasher, and quality cookware. This residential touch is perfect for longer stays or if you prefer to prepare your own meals, offering a true "home away from home" experience.||Laundry Facilities: The convenience of in-room laundry is a huge benefit for travelers.||Design Details: Rooms feature custom furnishings, Italian marble sinks, and sophisticated touches that enhance comfort and elegance. Many guests rave about the spacious, well-appointed bathrooms and the high-quality linens.||Bonus Services: Free bicycles are available for exploring the city, and the hotel offers services like grocery shopping and access to a nearby wellness center (including a swimming pool and gym).||Dining Experience (4.5/5)|The hotel hosts two excellent on-site dining options:||1. Lowland Tavern: Located in a historic, separate building, Lowland offers an elevated, Southern-inspired dining experience in a beautiful, antique-filled setting.||2. The Quinte Oyster offers excellent fresh seafood, cocktails, and a lively atmosphere.||Service and Hospitality (4.5/5)|The staff is highly professional, and responsive. The concierge service is very proactive and knowledgeable, helping secure reservations and offering excellent local recommendations. Service is focused on a personalized, intimate experience, reflecting the property's boutique nature.||Things to note:||Noise: Because of the prime location so close to King Street, some street-facing rooms can experience noise, especially on busy nights. The hotel thoughtfully provides earplugs and sound machines, but if you are highly sensitive to noise you might consider requesting a courtyard-facing room.||Parking: As with most historic downtown Charleston hotels, parking can be a factor. Valet parking is available, but self-parking at a nearby public lot is a cheaper alternative, though less convenient.||The Pinch is a perfect fit for discerning travelers, especially those seeking more than a conventional hotel room. It's a highly recommended luxury option that offers an authentic, comfortable, and spectacularly designed stay in the heart...
Read moreWOW! I was having a 'staycation' & booked a King room w a balcony. Upon arriving, I was greeted by friendly valet & friendly front desk staff. They informed me that my room was ready a bit earlier than expected, although I was perfectly comfortable to wait in their cozy front lobby or outside by the seated fireplace- looked so inviting! I was given a delicious refreshing welcome drink & was given the speal on the amenities such as breakfast, spa services, bike rental & gym..The hardwood floors & decor with live plants were a very nice touch. Love the elevator floor too. I was staying on the 2nd floor. It was a well equipped appointed room, very well thought-out with layout giving it a larger appearance than actual size. I was super impressed with the semi private balcony/terrace- perfect for evening cocktails or morning coffee, it had a bistro table w 2 chairs. The bathroom was a nice size with beautiful tile & surprisingly there was a full size stackable washer and dryer hidden behind closet doors! The refrigerator and mini bar was stocked with an assortment of liquors, mixers & filtered glass bottled h20. There was also a basket of snacks that consisted of Charlestonian pralines, some chocolate, pretzels, popcorn & chips, just to name a few. The room also came with a sound machine next to the bed & a Sonos stero sound system for music/TV. In the motion detected closet there were robes and slippers- perfect for my morning coffee- which btw they had fresh coffee beans with an electric grinder to make a pot of coffee in the room, I LOVED this ❤! The room was so quiet- not near street side. The bedding was so comfortable, I didn't want to get up- actually I slept past breakfast, so upon checkout they offered me a yogurt & piece of fruit. Nothing was left undone, every detail! The hotel is completely walkable to most everything. I felt like I was at home but still on vacation. Next time I will book a spa appointment in advance! Can't...
Read moreThe attention to detail is impeccable at The Pinch. I was thoroughly impressed. Every corner was clean, bathroom and kitchen amenities were fully stocked, and their “Field Guide” of local restaurant recommendations are on point. We were on vacation from LA to celebrate my birthday - we arrived with a birthday greeting from the receptionist as well as a warm welcome note in our room, along with complementary champagne to celebrate the occasion - I felt so special. We stayed in a standard King Room but it was fitted with all the luxuries that made for a comfortable stay: Aesop toiletries, ample towels of all sizes, glass bottles of filtered water in the fridge (replenished daily), and even real plants. I also loved that the kitchen had Peugeot salt and pepper mills just like the ones I have at home. House cleaning and turndown service daily. Location is centrally located, walkable to so many great restaurants and sight-seeing destinations. This accessibility does come with a minor concession which is that the hotel is located right off King Street which can get noisy but they already thought about that too and provide a white noise machine in the room. Request a room further away from King Street side if you’re an extra light sleeper. Ironically, I think one of my favorite moments from the trip was ordering blueberry hand pies for takeout at the end of the night from the attached restaurant Lowland and bringing them up to the room and eating them while watching TV (having a microwave to warm them up was awesome). I’m so glad I researched my way into The Pinch because I truly wouldn’t have felt more comfortable at one of those other bigger hotels which feels so stuffy and impersonal for my taste. I would not hesitate to book The Pinch again when I return...
