Mac's Daniel Island — Restaurant in Charleston

We had dinner at the outside area later in the evening (7-8pm) as the inside had no seats readily available. It was a last minute decision to come here as we haven’t been there since it changed hands a few years ago. The band that was playing outside had a great vibe. The food was very good and the service/bartender was great. The vinyl windows were in place around the outside bar area, as it was pretty chilly that evening. The part we were a little turned off with was, whether the windows were up or not, we thought it was strange that smoking was allowed at the bar (and not just vape); especially with the vinyl windows in place. It was like every patron was smoking based on the smoke floating around. The guy next to us at the bar was literally chain smoking and it was obvious he was a “regular” based on his conversations with the bartender (who looked so annoyed with him but had the patience of a saint; she even apologized to us for his drunkenness.) With that being said, we did have really good food and excellent service but coming home smelling like a cigarette was kind of a turn off for us. Hopefully that part changes as we love...

Husband and I had a late night at work and we were pretty hungry so we stopped at Macs. The place was packed inside and out because of football. Our server had 2 big tables with at least 10 people and she was definitely hustling . I was thinking its gonna be a while but within minutes she came over and took our drink order. Five minutes later she had our drinks and took our food order. The kitchen was pumping trays of food out of the kitchen for those big tables but before I finished my drink we had our appetizer and the food followed quickly . Wings were great and so were the sandwiches we ordered. The sweet potato tots with the cinnamon butter stuff are worth the trip alone. We have been there a few times but never so late. The food and service were wonderful. Its nice to have a late night place on DI with quick service...

i came with my dog for a quick bite, i sat down and the waitress came out with a bad attitude and looked like she didn’t want ti serve or be here. she was not inviting as a server should be and was not attentive by asking if i needed a refill for my drink, not offering if my dog wanted a bowl of water, did not introduce herself and looked miserable to be working. i did not want to eat there but i already ordered a drink so i ended up just getting a basket of fries because i was already sitting and waiting. i do not recommend this place as it has mediocre food and the waitress was not very helpful. however, the other staff were nice and helpful but the waitress i got was terrible. i was nice the whole time and was hoping my experience would be better but i was quite bored and...
