We don’t understand the hype, or the price.

We are transplants from the Southern California coast and Las Vegas- we love sushi and are willing to pay a lot for good quality sashimi. We ordered three rolls, the fried soft shell crab, the vegetable fried rice, and some sashimi. All three rolls were a disappointment, we will give some points on creativity on the Lotus Flower roll, the addition of apple is a nice touch and adds a crisp freshness, but other than that the rolls weren’t that tasty and they were very, very salty (without soy or ponzu). The main issue was the hair I found underneath a piece of my sushi. To say that ruined my appetite is an understatement. The soft shell crab looked nothing like it did in the photo on the menu. It was dry, due to being way over fried. It looked like burnt pieces of overly breaded fried chicken. The fried rice… for the portion size (and the lack of any vegetables besides some tiny pieces of carrot and onion) the price is absurd. The flavor was extremely underwhelming. Lastly, the sashimi. It was slimey. Didn’t seem fresh enough to serve. We are big sashimi people, so this was disappointing, especially with the price.

We have ordered sashimi/sushi from other places in the area at the same price point on a very regular basis, and enjoy them a lot. Thought we would try something new (closer to the house), but this felt like a major waste of a sushi date night,...

Wasabi Japanese restaurant review I had a solid experience at this restaurant. The atmosphere was cool, we were given a private room which was nice because we were a pretty large party but I saw they had a fish tank and cool sushi bar. It wasn’t the warmest or most comfortable but it was solid for what I was looking for. I started with edamame and calamari. The calamari was small and flavorful while the edamame was pretty good compared to other edamame’s I’ve had in the past. The entrees that I ordered were the ny strip habachi and the baked crab speciality roll as well as the crispy crab roll. The ny strip habachi is where my food really shined. The soup and salad were wonderful and the steak was cooked perfectly. It was buttery and melted in my mouth. The fried rice and grilled vegetables added a lot to the meal. The down side was that there wasn’t much to write home about the sushi. I expected more from both sushi rolls and they were sub par. I have had intricate baked rolls before and the flavor felt mild at best. The service was also great, however I felt rushed to leave the restaurant although they weren’t very busy. All in all I had a great experience and the food was good enough to warrant a five...

My girlfriend and I came here for happy hour after work. We are both clearly minorities. We greeted the bartender with smiles and asked her how she was doing. We didn’t receive a kind response. The bartender instantly treated us as if we were an annoyance and burden to her. Everyone else at the bar was not a minority and she was so kind and welcoming to all of them and treated them so well the entire time we were. She smiled at them and asked them how they were doing and went out of her way to care for them. When it came to us, she served people who came after us and had us wait a long time before she even asked us what we would like to drink. The bartender was short with us and acted in a manner as if we were causing her so much trouble by being there. She approached everyone else to ask for their food and drink orders. She just hollered across the bar to ask what we wanted. I never expected to be treated like this especially when the horrible treatment was only towards the minorities at the bar. This behavior was appalling and I’m truly saddened and disturbed that the minorities were treated differently and with...

Might just be the best sushi in the Charleston area and totally worth the trip to Daniel Island (they also have a MT. Pleasant location). Atmosphere is nice. Service is great. Food and drinks are spectacular. Completely fresh. The sushi roll combinations are interesting. The pad prik was really good... the steak was tender and the vegetables were perfectly cooked. We also ordered the udon noodles which were equally as delicious. I would definitely call before making a trip here just to make sure there isn’t an event happening at the stadium across the street. The restaurant can then be overcrowded and they sometimes offer a limited menu during concert/event nights. Oh and the outdoor music on the patio is a nice bonus!! This is really a great place.

Ordered takeout and arrived right on time that it said it would be ready. Food was cold by the time I got to my car. Filet and scallop hibachi dinner was small and disappointing. Filet consisted of 5 small bite size pieces that were very dry. I asked for medium rare, but they barely had a hint of pink. Scallops tasted good but there were only 4 normal sized scallops. SC crunch roll just seemed very small for a speciality $14 roll and the crunch had already gotten soft. Definitely not worth the $50 I spent trying to treat myself. (Picture does show roll after two pieces were eaten)
