I am a connoisseur of great gyros! I have had some very good ones and very bad ones. New to Charleston I asked my Facebook foodie community where is the best place to get great gyros? This restaurant was named as one. So, it being a Monday and some of the more mentionable ones where closed I decided to venture here since they were open. I drove 1.2 hrs. I ordered a gyro platter with fries. Here is my experience: The Pita was cold and stiff and cut into four sections so it looks like pizza slices. Not like the pita’s I’m use to that are warm and loaded with my favorite gyro choices. Here You get four strips of flavored dry meat. (I suppose one slice of meat for each section of pita). Three slices of a small tomato so you must make a choice on which of the 1 section of your four sections of your pita will not have tomato’s. Enough red onions to slightly flavor three sections of your pita, and enough green peppers to lightly flavor two slices of pita. So basically you will find yourself trying to build your own gyro using 1/4 sections of cold dry pita bread with dry meat. You can expect to get two 1/4 pita’s with all the toppings, the third 1/4 will have a hint of onions and the last 1/4 portion you must be comfortable eating just dry meat and tzatziki sauce. I am very disappointed considering I drove 1hr 20 min for this sandwich. Very disappointing!!! I normally don’t ask for a refund however in this situation I did. I refuse to drive 1.2 hrs for a horrible experience and pay for it. They did refund me my money!

The selection at the counter is amazing. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted with a wide variety of cold and hot sides and appetizers. I had the chicken gyros platter with apple orzo salad and grape leaves, and it was absolutely delicious. The warm pita on the side was the perfect addition. There’s so much more to choose from like spicy feta, beets, couscous, pasta salad, and more. I also tried the Greek fatayer, which was really good. Personally, I would have liked it with a little less cheese and oil and a bit more veggies, but that is just personal preference. One thing I noticed was the cutlery station, the basket marked "cutlery here" was empty, and the counter next to it was full of used dishes. Since it’s right in the dining area and staff kept walking by, it would be great if that spot got checked and cleaned more often. Other than that, everything was great. The staff was super friendly and the food was awesome. I will definitely be back.

I wish I didn’t walk in to wait for my order. I ordered a chicken shawarma sandwich and it was not shawarma but cut up chicken breast into tiny pieces. We were really looking for an authentic arabic place on Daniel island and this was not it. The cup given to me was a SUBWAY cup. There were numerous fliers and gnats flying around, the showcase was in acceptable and there was water leaking from them. The food did not look appetizing there. In addition, the young man helping me at the register had no idea what was on the sandwich when I asked. The table in the front was eating and left when i wakes in. The twenty minutes I waited for my order, no one cleaned up the table or picked up after them. I’m truly not sure how this place has great reviews. It just seems dirty, not clean and needs to be well taken care of. As an arabic person wanting arabic food on DI, this place was just not it.
