Lovely restaurant with beautiful decor! The bathrooms are clean and the restaurant has a airy feel to it. They have three large tables for outdoor seating as well as a bar. We arrived around 10am for breakfast and waited for about 5 minutes before we were seated. Our waitress was very kind and friendly and the service was fine, she checked up on us once after we got our food which might seem too little to others but we didn’t mind. We ordered two stacks of adult pancakes (3 each), french toast (consisted of 2 slices), and the breakfast potato (i don’t remember the name honestly but it had 2 eggs, bacon, sausages, potatoes, etc). Everything was DELICIOUS, the pancakes were cooked perfectly, with the edges a bit crispy. The french toast was delicious and the sausages were HEAVENLY. We also had an English muffin as a side and it was great—we ordered a lot of sweet stuff and the English muffin, being salty, was a great combo. My only issue was the wait. It wasn’t long but we were on a time crunch and couldn’t get seated with half the restaurant empty because of reservations. I understand that realistically there isn’t much of a solution to this though. My advice would be to just reserve a table ahead of time if it’s a busy morning. Overall our experience here was great and we’ll definitely be back next year! This area of daniel island has limited dining (especially breakfast) options and this is one of those hidden gems.

Always a good meal! We used to live on DI when Mpishi first opened but have since moved away. Today was our first time eating here again since before covid, and it did not disappoint! My husband loved his Greek scramble. The flavors really popped, and he said that the bacon was perfectly cooked! I got the “Day after Thanksgiving Day” sandwich, which was good but not great like before. If you get it, ask for no cheese and see if they can serve it on a less dense bread. The flavors of the bread and cheese really overwhelmed the Thanksgiving flavors. The gravy was also too runny for my taste and not very flavorful. The real star of the meal was the chocolate baby babka - WOW! It was the perfect combination of sweet, buttery, and flaky. The wait staff was amazing, and the restaurant is super clean. Thank you for a good meal experience!

The hungry detective has been going to Mpishi for years and let me tell you they just started doing smoked barbecue on Fridays and it’s next level off the chain right on Daniel Island every Friday night and with prices that won’t break the bank…check it out…you will not be disappointed!!! NOTE: MPISHI breakfast is awesome experience as well with made from scratch cinnamon rolls and other home made treats!!! VERDICT: MPISHI is guilty as sin for doing everything right…it’s all good!!!

I took my mother here for brunch this past Sunday and was extremely underwhelmed. The space has received a nice face lift and the service was decent but the food was sub-par.

The menu online did not reflect the menu we were handed. I'm a vegetarian so I was looking for items that did not include meat. I ended up with eggs that were overcooked (medium well is apparently too difficult), potatoes that were bland and had no seasoning whatsoever, and giant pieces of white toast that they didn't even bother to cut in half. I tried ordering sourdough toast which was on the menu for the sandwiches but the server said that it wasn't an option for my meal. My mother had the breakfast quesadilla which was also bland and had no discernible flavor. It was also very dry so she had to ask for a side of sour cream (it didn't come with salsa, pico, or anything but dry triangles of tortilla). There wasn't even that much cheese in it! My boyfriend did enjoy his salad with duck which was the only entree that actually looked appealing when it was brought out.

My suggestion for these people is to work on your plating and order a spice rack. Based on their name and story we were hoping for some unique flavors and unusual dishes, however this was just standard fare that you could get at any other restaurant and probably have a better meal. I might give them a try again once they are more settled but there are just too many other good places to eat in town to...

My husband, baby and I decided to come here for breakfast today. We rarely eat out due to being frugal so today was supposed to be a treat. My order came back wrong (it had rice instead of potatoes and wasn't what was described at all) so I pointed out the issue and the waitresses agreed- the kitchen got it wrong (not a big deal) but what was seriously concerning was the dish Huevos rancheros. Absolutely disgusting. The plate was swimming in liquids- immediately made my stomach hurt- I was so hungry by this point that I tried to eat it but physically couldn't. We had been there for an hour and a half- my baby was starting to get fussy.

When you go out to get breakfast as a young family and spend $18 on one dish you expect it to be good- or at least not inedible. I left nearly in tears thinking we had wasted so much money and didn't even get to eat. This is the first restaurant I have ever been to that I would warn people to stay away from.

the staff was wonderful and gave us a discount- but that's not what we wanted, we just wanted a good meal

We ended up going to a pizzeria nearby immediately after.

The chef seriously needs to reevaluate the meals they serve. I wouldn't give that...
