Worst pizza I ever ate.. been going to Giovanni’s for years…. Hit or miss.. crust always sane - very bland, but still put out decent tasting pizza using high quality mozzarella, sauce is ok.. but today was major off. The cheese was not even melted into pizza. Thought I’d must have been rebake… the gentleman making pizza today was someone I never seen before.. he was kind and professional and explained process… so yes it was a rebake because I asked for extra cheese. Always get extra cheese — nothing new. This was by far worst tasting pizza… it was dry, tasteless and nothing but cheese. Worst $33 ever spent. Won’t be back…. The order was placed early afternoon after typical lunchtime… maybe that’s why… a pizza sitting around so easy to throw cheese abd rebake so when I looked at it, I could tell it wasn’t going to be good..and it wasn’t hot. I should have left it, but since we have been patrons on and off for years, I paid after explanation of why he baked it in that way.mistake. The pizza place has always been inconsistent, and it truly is hit or miss. One shouldn’t expect good pizza in Charleston, SC, but there are a few other places in this town better than Giovanni’s..

0 stars. This place was disgusting at best. A few locals suggested it. I walked into it and it looked like some back alley drug den. It was dark and filthy and had all kind of old papers hanging on the walls. I convinced myself to stay and try a piece because I was absolutely starving and there was another family having a few slices. I thought, “it cant be that bad of those people are here!” Well- then my slice came and it had canned mushrooms on it and diced raw red onions that were definitely old. I took a few bites it was as bad as it looked. The guy making pizza behind the counter was very unkept with greasy hair and visible dirt under his nails. He also felt the need to yell out, “I wish my Mama swallowed!” While making the pizzas. He was also yelling a bunch of other random inappropriate stuff. This place is disgusting and how it’s still open and locals recommend it is beyond me. Place should be shut down by the board of health.

I had an incredibly disappointing experience with what was supposedly New York style pizza in Charleston. I paid $27 for an undercooked pizza that tasted more like a squished tomato than anything resembling proper pizza. When I called to request a refund or a replacement, I approached the situation respectfully, even saying, “I really don’t mean to offend anyone.” Their response was shockingly dismissive: “You ordered it, you paid for it, you picked it up—it's not our problem anymore.” This is not the kind of service I expected in a city renowned for hospitality. I even tried to salvage it with some seasoning and a stint back in the oven, but it was still inedible. If you check out the picture of the crust, you can clearly see raw flour still on it. I was really looking forward to this pizza, but it ultimately fell flat.

NY style pizza? As a professional pizza maker who spends 50 hours a week in the kitchen, this place was absolutely pathetic. They don't even cook the pizza directly on the stone, they put it onto a screen first, so the dough comes out spongey and not crisp at all since it doesn't get direct contact to the heat. Their sauce tastes like canned tomato sauce that I would use if I was feeding spaghetti to a 40 person crowd, cheap and tasteless. Their dough recipe, I won't say what they need to fix but Jesus.. They need to do something because the guy making it has covid and with that no sense of taste apparently, absolutely disgraceful pizza. The only thing going for this company is that I can tell they use Grande brand cheese which is the best of the best. If you like high quality mozzarella cheese on top of amateur dough and great value brand tomato sauce or don't know good pizza then go here. All in all, extremely overpriced, might as well be freezer brand, the guy behind the counter should resign if that's what he thinks good pizza is. Adding that the guy making the pizza was extremely rude, pizza is one of those foods where if you enjoy it then it doesn't matter the toppings, as I'm asking for pineapples he's in the back sticking his tongue out making "ugh" noises at me, I thought it was a joke until I went into the bathroom and heard through their thin walls that he was genuinely talking trash about my pizza topping choice. This place shouldn't even be an option for pizza in Charleston. I can't believe I spent almost 40 dollars...

Terrible Customer Service – Won’t Be Back This was our first time in the area and at this restaurant. We needed something quick before our next appointment, so we decided to give it a try. From the start, the experience was disappointing. The young lady taking our order was unfriendly, blunt, and made it clear with her facial expressions and tune of voice that she didn’t care about good customer service.

Since we weren’t sure how long the pizza would take, we asked for it to go, thinking we could eat while walking if necessary to our next appointment. Surprisingly, it came out quickly, so we decided to sit and eat. That’s when things took a turn. The same cashier came over and told us, if we come back again, that we aren’t allowed to eat to-go orders in the dining room—then walked away. Moments later, she came back to repeat herself. Meanwhile, we could hear an employee behind the counter complaining that we were “causing a lot of work for them”.

When we asked what the issue was, the cashier rudely pointed to a sign in the back of the dining room stating the policy—something we hadn’t seen. Instead of handling the situation with any level of courtesy, they seemed more interested in scolding us than providing a decent customer experience.

The pizza itself was fine—the crust was actually pretty good—but no food is worth being treated like that. Even if this were the last restaurant on earth, I’d rather go hungry. Save yourself the frustration—there are plenty of places with better pizza and much better service. Would...

This place is discussing. The cook brought our 2 slices in pieces of paper and half of one slice was outside the paper and on the dirty table. He could not care less about that. There was grease all over the pizza and of course all over the paper. I asked the cook to please give a paper plate and he responded that they don’t have plates, that the paper is the plate. So I grab the plastic forks and knives they have and they are so thin that then bend when you try to cut the pizza. So you have your pizza on top of 2 pieces of paper full of grease over a dirty table and the slices are so big that you can’t just hold them in your hands, so have to cut them. My husband was very upset and just wanted to leave, because he could not believe how careless, dirty and unpleasant this guy was. We got up to pay and told the guy that he should be more careful about serving pizza and not even caring that it goes into the dirty table. He got very upset and said “what do you want me to do if I am by myself and I can’t handle it all” we said that was not our problem and that he should be more worried about the sanitary conditions of the place. He just got very mad and told us to leave if we didn’t like it. Also, he was getting cash, erasing a board with his hand and grabbing the dough without washing the hands. This place should be inspected for sanitary conditions. It probably has rats crawling in the back…...
