Company responds to negative reviews by posting a toll free number and a statement that they want to talk with you personally about your issues, but the number only directs you to use the web site contact form. So dishonest. When the website contact form is used, they ignore the complaint.
If you have legitimate food safety concerns, issues with discrimination, poor service, etc., it may be necessary to pursue other fair and amicable means to resolve your issues, as you likely won't get a meaningful response from Shoneys.
Charleston has dozens of awesome casual dining spots; If you're looking for a positive experience, I'd choose one of them. There's one older waitress, blonde hair, if you're blessed to get one of her tables, you might enjoy your visit; She's the only person, customer or staff, I saw smiling. These are not happy people, it seems to me. It's like eating at a funeral. If I had to work in an environment like that, I'd be miserable too, I suppose. Food is mediocre at best and seems worse each visit. Something seriously wrong with management here would be my guess, given the number of ongoing issues during my last five visits or so.
My choice to give up on Shoneys was based on food safety concerns, dishonest communications from the company, failure to respond to constructive criticism, listless, apparently, unhappy wait staff, mediocre food, among other issues best left to...
Read moreTerrible, terrible food. I hadn't eaten at a Shoney's for a long time, so decided to give it a try, since it was very near to the Tesla charger I was using. Ugh!! Big mistake!! They only offer a few "fresh" sandwiches and push their all you can eat buffet as their primary offering. They don't even bother with having a menu, that's how strong they push the buffet. The quality of the foods offered was quite low, everything I tried was overly breaded, over cooked and overly sweet or salted. Haven't had a bad experience like this in some time. I guess when I saw Southern Cooking I was hopeful it would be more like Cracker Barrel (which I love!). Honestly, given the choice between another Shoney's experience and grabbing something off the roller grill at a gas station, the roller grill will win every time! Even the atmosphere here was dark, old and stale. And the cost wasn't even extraordinarily low. The staff was the only redeeming quality this Shoney's had. Very nice and friendly, but their only real role is to take away your dirty plates and bring drinks. I can't remember the last time I walked away from an all you can eat buffet hungry. I just couldn't find a single item on the buffet that was in any way satisfying. I stopped at a gas station on the way out of town and picked up a bag of Doritos. Shoney's truly...
Read moreMe and my fiancé went in for breakfast. They seated us, a waitress came up and said she Wasn’t out waitress but she would get us started with drinks. But she then took our order, which was two breakfast bars and an order of over easy eggs. We went up to the breakfast bar, there wasn’t much to choose from breakfast wise! And what was there was old and dried out or hard! We sat down and another waitress went to the table next to us with my fiancé eggs. We had to tell her they were ours. After we finished our no very good breakfast we waited for a while for our wAitress( which we still didn’t know who they were) to bring us our check. By the way we never got one. We had to go up to the cashier and tell her we didn’t have one and why. Then after them trying to figure out who our waitress was , they figured out it was apparently the one who was outside . The other waitress went outside to ask her and came back in and said she’s got this and walked right by us to the back. No one came up to tell us what was going on. Then finally the cashier came up with a bill and charged us 32.00 for what we ordered. Which was no way worth what we ate. Needless to say I will never go back to this...
