I was attending for the first time at the Commodore a week ago. I am a non-drinker and as such was the designated driver for friends celebrating a birthday. While enjoying our selves and the great music and atmosphere I was approached by security and told to leave. I had no idea what he was talking about. Apparently I was accused of pulling someones hoodie over their head. Hmmmm, since I was with friends the entire time, I do not drink and am fully coherent as to where and what I am doing I told the "not so friendly" bouncer that he was mistaken. However, he was insistent that I leave or I would be ejected forcibly. While he was cordial and professional, his accusation was wrong and no opportunity to confront my accuser was given. So the word of a very inebriated mistaken patron has precedence over a non-drinking patron who was with 5 other people the entire time. There were also 3 people we did not know who told us it was ridiculous as they were also witness that I had not moved from where we were and the allegation was false. This was not only humiliating, but ruined the birthday celebration which was cut short and 5 paying customers left the Commodore. Will I return?

Note to others. How was my first visit? Don't expect appreciation or respect as a customer unless you spend enough on booze to be blasted out of your mind. Then they take...

I wanna be mad at the Commodore, but not really. See, they have a great thing going. Good vibe, good drinks and 1 x vicious bouncer. Singular.Throughout the night, I scoped him giving my fist to knuckle motions all night, unknowing it was leading to a rude and dastardly move in which after dropping coin on multiple drinks we had chairs violently pulled from right out under our kisters. The offender,? Why the agressive gentlemen mentioned earlier. Brown hair and brown beard .He pulled a seat from right under a woman.I had to grab his arm and ask him to refrain from his assault on the woman. He did not pause and ripped the chair from her, almost causing her to fall the floor. Wow. All the goodwill and attention gone to waste by 1 violent employee. Unbelievable. This guy attacked a woman amd yelled "Gimme this seat Back now....". It was unreal.we left immediately and i asked him how he could attack someone, a woman, so suddenly and he said "you want some?!". Wow. We'd love to go back, but honestly the guy worries us. The act of one violent clown shouldn't represent a businessz but here...

I rate this place a 1 and that is only because of the older man who was parking everyone. He was very friendly. My husband and I stayed at the Shem Creek In ( beautiful place). We decided to go listen to a live band. We had read all the reviews that were posted about the Commodore. We decided to go and we regret it. You see we being a black couple was disrespected by the bartenders. I went to the bar to buy a drink and I stood and waited my turn. The 1st bartender waited on another couple who were white and continued to talk to them even after he had served them and he totally over looked me. The 2nd bartender who was also waiting on another white couple completed their order and continued to talk to them. I held my money up so that they would see that I needed to be served. They continued to ignore me. I walked back to the table where my husband sat and told him what had happened. We got our things and left. The man who was parking the people up, asked why we were leaving so soon we told him and he apologized.. I would not tell anyone of color to visit this place after the way we...

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! I'm afraid to hype this up too much cuz I don't want it getting too packed. But if you want to hear really good music the house band sits in with different national recognized singers on the weekends. Nobody will be sitting by 12:00 at night. They've got a dance floor with the disco ball and steam comes out of the ceiling. Every time I've gone they play everything from Prince to Marvin Gaye. The Temptations to Bobby Brown. He can't go wrong if you want to dance to really good music. Sorry but there's no rap that I've seen there. It's usually packed with older people like me... I'm 46 and you'll see people from 30 to there late 50s and then after midnight you'll get the younger kids that are between 21 and 29 years old. You must be 21 to get in and there's no exceptions!!! There is not a lot of parking and it's kind of where the hood meets midtown. I've always taken a lift or Uber. The band will play till 1:45 in the morning and they usually don't get started till just after 10:00 PM.

The website needs to be updated. We decided to visit while on vacation and went on Caribbean/Reggae night and the website stated they opened at 5 or 6pm. When we arrived a neighbor told us they don't start until later that night. We decided to go in and it was completely empty. I ordered a drink and asked the guy behind the bar about the time they start, he was rude and very short with his answers, but stated they start at 9 or so. Maybe he was annoyed we were there early. I had my drink and as we were leaving another couple came in due to the website time. We did come back later that night and they then wanted to charge us to get in. I refused, stating I'd been there earlier and they let us in. The music was nice, but there was no reggae. Very misleading.

I took my wife out for a midweek date night to The Commodore. It's a cool, quaint spot downtown that you have to go and check out. Parking is either on the street (if you can find a spot). Or you can park on the grass across from the front entrance. Walking inside, we really loved the aesthetics. They just had the right vibes all around. We had a few drinks of which I can't remember the names. But I'll be sure to update you once I find out. Unfortunately, they don't serve food. So make sure you get a bite to eat prior to coming in. The highlight was the band, The Living Daylights. They were soulful and groovy baby! They had a reggae/hip hop/neo soul type feel throughout the night. We definitely gotta catch them again.
