Extremely Disappointed and Distressed After My Recent Visit Dear cutlass and came , I am writing to express my utter devastation regarding my recent experience at your restaurant. I had high hopes for my birthday celebration, but what transpired was nothing short of a nightmare. During my meal, I discovered a piece of plastic in my food, which caused me to choke and left me gasping for air. I am still shaken by the incident, as it was a terrifying moment that could have had serious consequences. Despite my distress, the response from your staff was alarmingly dismissive. Instead of offering assistance or even a simple apology, I felt completely disregarded and unsupported. To add insult to injury, my special day was ruined. I had looked forward to celebrating with friends and family, and instead, I left your establishment feeling traumatized and disrespected. It is heartbreaking to think that what was supposed to be a joyful occasion turned into a distressing experience. I sincerely hope you take this feedback seriously, as no one should ever have to endure such an ordeal. I expected so much more from your establishment, and I am left feeling deeply disappointed and frustrated. They also charged us for BREAD AND WATER ! Sincerely, Tenyia

My boyfriend and I ate here for my birthday on vacation. The restaurant itself is beautiful. My espresso martini was tasty as was the burrata salad and mussels app. Entrees, filet mignon and the lobster pasta special were enjoyable though we ordered our steak medium and it was definitely overcooked as it was only slightly pink but we didn’t complain about it. The service lacked. We both serve in restaurants as well, so we are always laid back guests; but the restaurant itself was not busy so the service could’ve been better. The low rating is mainly due to the fact that the waitress did not present my boyfriend with an itemized check nor did she tell him that 20% was already included. Just typed in the total with gratuity included into the card reader, tapped his card and then handed him the device with a tip screen so he ended up putting an additional 20% on the check. She gave us a copy of the receipt after he paid. Upon leaving and seeing that we left $53 on top of $44, I was frustrated. And being a server, we tip 25% even when the service isn’t great. But having tipped $97 total on a $220 check, was definitely excessive. Just felt shady and we would’ve appreciated being told it was already included.

I could not come home to the U.S. and not share my experience & pics from dining at Cutlass & Cane in St. Thomas. The food is all I think about. I'm on a mission to find a restaurant near me to replicate that seafood pasta. The place is beautiful! Upscale, but also welcoming. It's located in what's called "Yacht Haven," the private yachts are docked right outside the restaurant's deck, which makes the dinner atmosphere seem even more heavenly. The food is exceptional. I don't even talk like this, but it is all I can talk about when people ask about my trip to St. Thomas. Once I visited the restaurant, I just had to go back on my last night on the Island. I couldn't leave without having that seafood pasta again. It was excellent both times. I hope my pictures speak volumes to the consistency of the dish. Also had the jerk fried wings as appetizers, sooooo good! The first visit was on the 13th of Feb and they had a Galantine's Paint event. (see pic) The restaurant looks small when you walk up to it, but there is a side patio with a huge seating area where they are jammin' on Saturday nights. (see pic). This place makes me want to relocate to St. Thomas. :)

I booked this on a recommendation by a coworker for our 7 year anniversary. We arrived at 6pm and asked to be seated on the deck outside. The restaurant is beautiful, so is the view from the deck. Everyone was polite.

The host was extremely nervous and had a difficult time speaking to us, fumbling words. Same with the waitress. I get it, maybe you're new to fine dining and remembering what to say and so on, but for the price of the food, this place should have top tier service. At that time there were only 3 other tables filled in the entire restaurant.

Our waitress took our appetizer and main course order just after our drinks arrived. Our drinks arrived shortly after we arrived. We ordered the melon, prosciutto, brie and the scallops. The scallops were cold and raw inside. So, we had those returned. When they arrived again, they were burnt, dry and stringy. They were removed.

We waited until 7:30pm for our main course. We were only checked on once. My husband got up to let them know we were leaving, as we had not gotten our food, it arrived just then. At this point we were so hungry. The food tasted good, but definitely not $84 a plate good. I had the lobster, he had seafood pasta. Seemed like boxed pasta, and fake truffle oil. My broccolini was so tough, I could hardly cut through it.

My husband is a fine dining chef, so I know what 5 star should be. This was a big disappointment on a special night.

Plates were served on these odd plastic gold leaf plates. Literally your plate of food is served on top of this other plastic plate. The silverware was not polished, it was coated in some kind of black plating, scratched, watermarked and odd as well. Odd choice for fine dining.

During this entire time, other guests kept coming over right next to our table, to take business phone calls and argue with people on the phone. We asked them to please take their calls else where, as Yacht Haven Grande was mostly dead that evening and hardly anyone was around. So, it would be easy to step out front to take phone calls, away from other guests. If you have enough common sense to be polite to your family and leave to take a phone call, you could also do so for other guests trying to enjoy their meal. One guy got really crappy with us when we asked him to take his call elsewhere.

It felt like the entire staff was inexperienced, including the kitchen, and/or they lacked enough help in the kitchen.

We spoke to the GM several times and they comped drinks and app., but the whole experience was subpar. Sunset, best...

My wife and I heard from someone on the island of Saint Thomas that this restaurant was an absolute MUST!! We also loved the fact that it’s Black-Owned. After reviewing the website/menu, our expectations were HIGH!!! Let me say this: Cutlass & Cane DID NOT Disappoint and they lived up to every expectation we had!!!

Upon entry, we were greeted MULTIPLE times by bar staff and wait staff. We had a 5:00pm reservation and arrived around 4:50pm. While the dining room was not open at the time we arrived, we were welcomed to the bar area where we were given menus to review. The Bar Attendant welcomed us again and we selected drinks with him. At 5:00pm we were promptly escorted to our seat which had an amazing views of the patio and marina. The Bar Attendant brought us our drinks which were absolutely amazing and refreshing.

Our waitress was very professional and welcomed us to the restaurant and told us about the specials. I had my mouth set for a particular menu item, but her descriptive presentation of the nightly specials swayed my decision. We were NOT disappointed at our dining selections. The portions were very as reasonably sized and the seafood was extremely Fresh!!! While we were eating, we were greeted by the owner of the restaurant which was a great addition to our experience. He told us the history of the building and celebrated my wife and I on our honeymoon.

After we finished our meal, we were surprised with a Happy Honeymoon dessert and two glasses of champagne compliments of the owner. It made for a very special evening. After paying for our meal, we were able to take pictures with the owner and he took pictures for us in front of the establishment. The ONLY complaint that I have is that we only ate there on our last day. We cannot wait...

10/10 - Best Dining Experience on St. Thomas!

Hands down, this was the best restaurant we ate at during our entire stay on St. Thomas, and we ate at quite a few top spots! From the moment we walked in, it was clear this place was something special, and it didn’t disappoint in any way.

Service: The staff here are incredible. From the warm welcome to the impeccable service throughout the meal, they made us feel like VIPs. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive without being overbearing. It’s clear that they take pride in providing an unforgettable dining experience, and it really shows.

Food: Now, let's talk about the food—WOW! Every dish we tried was absolutely outstanding. Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The seafood was some of the best we’ve ever had, and you can tell everything is locally sourced and made with love. We highly recommend the [insert specific dish here], which was an absolute showstopper. Each course was better than the last, and we left completely satisfied but also eager to return to try more.

Drinks: The cocktail list is incredible! They’ve got a perfect selection of creative island-inspired drinks and a well-curated wine list. Every drink was expertly crafted and paired wonderfully with the food.

Overall Experience: From the stunning setting to the top-notch service and mouthwatering food, this restaurant truly stands out as the best on St. Thomas. It’s a place where you can unwind, savor amazing dishes, and feel completely pampered. We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better dining experience.

If you’re visiting St. Thomas, do yourself a favor and make this your go-to spot—you will not be disappointed. It’s an experience we’ll be talking about long after we’ve left the island....
