The lady who owns or works here is extremely rude.
I wasn’t planning to write a review because I don’t like leaving negative feedback but after my husband shared his review, she responded in an unprofessional manner stating:
“This guys history shows 21 review on 1 day all Puerto Rican restaurants we got caught in his point building efforts.”
Since she seems to have forgotten who we were, let me remind her. We visited on the evening of March 7, when it was raining. We were her first customers that evening. She was sitting near the bar and when we entered, she casually said, “Take any seat and come to the bar to place your order.” That was fine.
However, shortly after, a group of American guests arrived. She greeted them warmly with a smile, walked them to their seats, handed them menus and engaged in friendly conversation. That’s also fine—but the contrast in treatment was noticeable.
As travel and food bloggers, we share honest reviews to help others make informed choices.
Now about the food:
We ordered Chicken Biryani and Gobi 65. The Gobi 65 was just deep-fried cauliflower—not exactly what we expected but no complaints.
The real issue began with the Chicken Biryani. The chicken was completely undercooked and had a very strong, unpleasant smell, making it inedible. As any customer would, I politely called her over and mentioned the issue, asking if she could take it back. I also made it clear that we would still pay for the dish. Despite this we placed another order for a paneer gravy dish with two breads, which thankfully turned out to be good but again breads were undercooked but we didn’t complain.
However, while we were eating, she called my husband aside to the bar and started showing him pieces of chicken, insisting that it was fully cooked. He came back feeling uncomfortable about the whole situation. When we went to pay, I even tried to be polite and said, “I am sorry if you felt bad that we returned the dish.” But instead of handling the situation professionally, she reacted rudely, telling me that I “don’t know the taste of chicken” and insisting that “this is how chicken is.” Even when I complimented the paneer dish, she remained fixated on the biryani and kept repeating that no one had ever complained about it before.
What was even more upsetting was that she made racist comments during this interaction. Instead of respectfully addressing our concern, she made remarks that were completely unnecessary and inappropriate. No customer should ever feel uncomfortable or disrespected based on their background.
And now, coming to the most disappointing part—her response to my husband’s review. Instead of addressing the issue professionally, she chose to make false accusations about our reviewing habits, implying we were leaving reviews just to “build points.” This was unnecessary and completely uncalled for.
To the owner: Please learn to accept constructive feedback instead of dismissing customers’ concerns with baseless assumptions. A restaurant’s success is not just about food—it’s also about hospitality. Treating customers with courtesy and respect, regardless of where they come from, goes a long way.
Now, let’s see what comment she comes up with because I am sure she will have a good reply—once again proving...
Read moreHorrible experience there.. The server was great but the food was nowhere close to what was advertised on the menu.
This is a reply to the owner's reply..
Our experience at this restaurant was as I mentioned before horrible. I'm not mistaken about where we went nor do I have an agenda, I'm simply leaving an unbiased review of our experience at this restaurant. We went there as a group of 3 couples. We sat outside and checked out the menu. We asked about the snapper as the menu showed a full fried fish. The server checked with the cook and it was in fact a whole fried fish but they only had 1 left (mind you this was during lunch time in the middle of the week). My buddy ended up ordering it while we ordered other types of fish from the menu. When the snapper finally arrived it was a small fillet and not the whole fish. Then the swordfish arrived and it was another fillet identical to the snapper. We asked what was going on with our food since it seemed that they literally were attempting to serve us two small fillets of the same fish and calling the other half swordfish. When we asked to speak to management the server said that no one was there except her and the cook. So even after we asked about the snapper and the served confirmed it was the whole fish we got served a small fillet and were also served another identical fillet which the cook insisted was swordfish.. At this point we didn't even want to see what the rest of our food looked like so we told the server we didn't want the food. We left cash on the table for the appetizers and drinks we had and left.
Whenever you read these reviews, where the owners or management always have an explanation or excuse about what occurred while placing blame on others, that should be a clear indicator for those reading this to simply stay away...
Read moreDuring my visit to St Thomas, I was looking for some food other than Burgers and Pizza. I stumbled across Thali Indian Grill using Google. Upon entering, my husband and I were welcomed to choose our own seating. The owner was patient as we couldn't decide what to eat because I wanted to try Everything! While we looked over the menu, we were told we could pick out our own drinks, making us feel like Family. After ordering, the Owner provided us with Great Conversation and Recommendations for things to do during our stay.
The Food, Service, and Atmosphere were so Wonderful that we returned everyday during our week long visit. Oh and as a Treat, we were Serenaded by the Sounds of Live Steel drums being played during 2 of our meals.
S/N, reading some of the reviews, I can see the Misery in people. As brown skinned people, me nor my husband were not treated any differently than any of the many different race and colors of customers visiting the establishment. We meant and conversated with many different people, while dining at the restaurant (locals and travelers). The owner literally treated us All like Family.
As far as the comments about the food...If you don't want to try something different, Don't Go. If you don't want to be treated like Family, Don't Go. I have visited Many Indian restaurants and each one does Curry Chicken and Roti different. I had the Blackened Naan and it was Delicious with my Spinach and Coconut Milk.
Lastly, we ate during lunch and dinner. Lunch had to go plate, While dinner...
