It’s official we have just met THE RUDEST member of staff at a tourist attraction ever.
We went to the window to pay and as very inconvenienced member of staff had to stand up to serve us. We asked nicely how much it was for 2 adults and 2 kids to which he very rudely asked me to repeat myself twice (we are native English speakers also).
Once we established what we wanted he then had to calculate the price of something like 37.50usd.
I got my wallet out and he huffed majorly about the 50 note and said could we not pay with card “or something” I then offered 2 20’s instead and he absolutely freaked out and shouted about “I’ll have to see what I have” not one time but twice.
At this point we said we don’t want to go any more as he was being so rude.
He then panicked and told us “I can be calm, I can be calm”
We decided to leave.
We did not enter the fort disappointingly but we could not entertain the rudest member of staff ever.
We hope no other people are subjected to this awful person. He should be dealt with swiftly.
This took place at about 11.30am on...
Read moreThis old fort has great unrealized potential. The admission is $10 so I assumed we would receive some kind of brochure or guide to inform our self guided walk. None is handed out. Most of the rooms in the fort are empty and the rooms that do contain the few exhibits are shabby and neglected. Some of the pictures hanging on the walls identify the subject but most are not even labeled. The shackle loops are still attached to the walls but the visitors simply need to imagine what happened there. No history , no stories, no explanation of any of the events that shaped St Thomas. I hope the US Park Service administers this property some day to turn this property into the type of visitor experience it deserves to become. Now it’s just a shell, a former local jail with all the charm of an abandoned...
Read moreNice walk from cruise terminal that avoids almost all the traffic and hassle. The fort has fantastic views in all directions. It is very run-down probably due to lack of funds, but it only costs $2 so it's great value.
There were 2 calypso singers improvising verses about the people arriving, which was good fun and more in the spirit of the islands that visitors want to experience.
Grenada cruise terminal had a steel band to welcome you, which, together with the previously mentioned calypso duo, was a wonderful experience.Too many places in the West Indies pump out pretty dark rap-type music with aggressive sounding singers chanting about "me mudda an me brudda". It's just not what older people, (who arrive by the thousands every day on cruise ships),...
