As soon as I approached the counter, I was "greeted" with a bad attitude. Aaliyah stated her standard, cookie-cutter greeting "welcome to burger king can I help you?", but clearly seemed put out that she had to server yet another customer. She was looking around all over the airport because I was, apparently, the least interesting thing available to look at. I ordered a sausage, egg, and cheese croissanwich meal with a SMALL soft drink. Aaliyah punched in the order and told me my total, $9.73. Anyway, while I was pulling out my money, she reached back and grabbed a large soft drink cup and set it on the counter. If you've been paying attention, I intimated that I had requested a small. Rhetorically, I asked "That's a small?" She retorted "Meals only come with a large." I stated that I didn't need a bucket-load of soda and that I'm plenty sure that a small is an option. She then became (more) annoyed and agitated, snatched up the large cup, put it back and replaced it with a small cup. She then stared at me expectantly. I said "Uh, what's the new total?" She responded "There is no new total. We only give large drinks with meals." I was becoming frustrated at this point, but because I'm not a garbage human being, I maintained my pleasant demeanor. Yet, here she was going to just give me a small sized cup and still charge me for a large. Why did she think that was a reasonable solution? I told her that "if she was going to charge me for a large, then she should give me a large cup." She became even MORE visibly irritated and, again, swapped the cups (and in the process, knocking over a stack of other cups, then picked them up off the floor and put them back in place. It's ok, as we learn later, Aaliyah isn't particularly concerned with cleanliness or sanitation.)
So, my total was $9.73. I handed her $10.75, reasonably expecting a dollar and two pennies back. She punched in my tendered amount as something completely different than either of those totals. Then she started picking up nickles and dimes, looked confused, put it all back in the drawer and handed me 2 pennies.
"My total was 9 and change, I gave you 10 and change, you still owe me a dollar." Again, she gets irritable and snaps back "hold on a minute". She starts talking to people in the food preparation area. I couldn't hear what she was saying, but I'm sure it went something to the effect of "I love my job here and pleasing these customers, tired as they may be after a red-eye flight, and at 6 in the morning, is my top priority." Then someone passes a dollar bill through the "window". To be clear, someone had money out in the same area that food is being prepared, and then handed it through the window with the same hands I'm sure they are using to prepare food. Money is the most disgusting thing we as human beings handle in our lives, and yet at the CLT BK, it's right there with the food.
It was 6am, most places were closed, I was starving after a near-cross-country flight, so I ate. The food was about as I expected it would be, this being a Burger King. Note: This is in no way an endorsement of it's quality. It was just like every other BK in the country, and that ain't great.
In short: Aaliyah sucks as a customer service person. She was irritated at having to even serve me, let alone accommodate any request I had. Also, you cant tell me there's no way to give me a small drink instead of a large with a meal. I wanted a small because I don't need a ton of soda before getting on another flight and I only expected to have to PAY for a small. I'm 90% sure it's a matter of pushing a different button. Lastly, why is money anywhere near food? And why are people in the food prep area even handling money?
If you love crappy customer service, feeling like an annoyance, slow-witted and highly unsanitary employees, and possibly contracting hepatitis, this is the place to be! I will certainly never eat from this...
Read moreI got food poisoning so bad from here a while back. I can't bring myself to go to Burger King again. I got a Whopper burger. I was so hungry I had bitten straight into it and eaten part of it. I realized it had no decent taste and it was all dried up! I waited again in the crazy lines and ordered another burger (at full cost) to see if it would be the same. The 2nd burger was not dry but I had already eaten part of the first 1. I didn't have time to stick around wondering if I would be ill. I had to travel to my final destination. After getting off the plane I had no appetite and got stomach cramps during the night. Then I was so ill for 2 days! I'll never forget my 2 day trip to Louisiana, for all the wrong reasons! I'd never had any bad reactions to food in my life so I am sure the burger definitely was too old and should not have been served to anybody!
The line was very long at the time I visited, it seemed so disorganized. The staff were all actively working. But that was no guarantee that cleanliness standards or food safety checks were in place. When you are in a pinch and need to eat quickly you go for fast food but still have a long wait in disorganized lines and then you get severely ill from the food! An old person could even have ended up in hospital from that! A proper health inspection must be done on this place and hopefully this can be replaced with a cleaner, properly organized food...
Read moreI really hope that the admin for the airport reads this review. A huge change needs to happen here. I have noticed that I'm always either late coming in or late going out of this airport. After stopping at burger King tonight I think I know why. After ordering and waiting for my food, I noticed that the number reader (that's pretty much all she did) was preoccupied with an airport worker, at the counter no less. The other problem I had with this is that he was eating his food from another restaurant there at the counter where other peoples food is staged for pickup. This is totally unsanitary but I guess their little flirtatious romance took precedence over sanitation. After having to ask multiple times which one was mine because she was too concerned with the airport worker, I finally got my food. When I sat down to eat my food, I noticed even more reflective vests just "hanging around." This was concerning because I thought to myself, there's no way this many grounds employees can be on break at the same time? From harassing and trying to flirt with passengers just trying to get food or get to their gate to flirting or talking with other workers at the restaurants or stores, I now have a clear understanding why Charlotte has so many delays either arriving or departing. There has to be a bigger authority presence within this airport to keep...
