i’ve been holding back on writing this review for almost a month because i used to enjoy common market (except for the oakhurst location) but i really thought they should be aware of this.
me and two of my friends went to common market on february 8th sometime between 5 and 5:30pm to grab a bite close to the train station before seeing aespa at spectrum. it had been a while since i’d been to this location and i was with people who had never been, so we looked over the menu quickly before going up to the counter and ordering…
only to be told we can’t order from that menu? we were given another, much smaller menu instead. weird, but sometimes things are. one of my friends tried to order a simple salad, told they can’t do that. again, weird, but by then i was getting annoyed. i work in food service so i try to have sympathy for other workers, but it’s a damn SALAD, it’s not that difficult! i ordered the bánh mì with tofu, and i had to show the person at the counter that it literally says it’s an option in the description after they said they can’t do that!
i genuinely don’t mean to be rude, but the person at the counter seemed like they had no idea what they were doing. they were very nice (i got my sandwich for free with my punch card), but they were completely out of it lol.
i was trying to show off a food spot i like in front of my friends but ended up feeling like an idiot. i guess common market isn’t doing so well… rock hill closed, oakhurst took away of their good vegan options, and now southend sucks? sad to see a cool place go...
Read moreI came in 15 minutes to close of the boars head sandwich section and because they were already cleaning up They let me know that the Thai food behind them was good within the same establishment. I ordered my food and after eating one bite I realize that either they served pork or the food was old. When I took it back to the point to sale the gentleman there let me know that it wasn’t pork and was not helpful at all. I went and sat back down and thought about it And brought the plate back about 10 minutes later at that point the chef came out of the back and proceeded to let me know that everyone loves his food and he’ll pay money out of his own pocket to be done with me. He roughly handed me $7 He snatch the plate out of my hand walked to the back where I could see him and started to bang the plate as hard as he could against the trash. As a food business owner and a person I would never treat any of my customers like this . I called the chef back over to the point of sale to let him know that I didn’t appreciate my treatment and his reaction was uncalled for. The people that were at the common market were very nice and I love the idea of sitting outside however I would never go back there again and anyone I know will tell them this place...
Read moreWent here after multiple bad experiences with Einstein Brothers Bagels because a friend suggested I come here because they also serve breakfast. I didn’t know what to expect, but everything about this place is quite cool. The staff is friendly and helpful and I think that positive energy even translates to the overall experience and makes other customers more pleasant. I only went here for breakfast but after looking at the menu I decided to get something for lunch. The prices are comparable to Einstein brothers bagels probably cheaper but the portions are bigger and the options are a bit more unique which I like. It’s nice to walk in somewhere and find something so unexpected. The decor is also really cool. I love how every where you turn there is something fun to look at or read that makes this place very unique in comparison to many of the other places surrounded by the area. It’s like a market and dive bar combined with a retail store. I love it. I’ll definitely be coming back and bringing some friends with me. Also they have a rewards program so that’s pretty cool. Also the god is pretty good too. If you’re looking for somewhere different, fun, but relaxed and somewhat nostalgic and familiar I...
