Little Village Grill — Restaurant in Charlotte

I had heard really good things about this place. I'm trying to go to all of the Yelp top 100 restaurants for 2018, and since this was in the top 10 it seemed like a good time to try it!

There's a ton of construction so getting there is harder than usual, but we just parked in the parking garage attached to the building. You can only get into the garage on the back side of the block right now.

It's definitely a take out place, but we decided to eat there at the couple of tables they have. Orders come out fast. We probably waited about 5 minutes for ours.

We got a traditional gyro as well as a falafel pita. Then we got a side of regular fries and chili cheese fries with baklava for dessert. The gyros were delicious. I liked the traditional more than the falafel (the falafel wasn't quite as flavorful or crispy as I like). I would say it was the one of the best gyros I've had. The fries are also amazing. I preferred the regular ones - they didn't need the chili. Likewise, the baklava was delicious.

You definitely can't beat the price. We got a ton of food and it was all about $15.

I was a little confused by the reviews of this place. I saw the five star reviews and good comments, and decided to try this place as a change from other Mediterranean places in the area. The food is okay, but this is in no way “best Greek food in Charlotte.” This is more like a sub shop with a few Greek menu items. The real highlight is the fries in my opinion, they are pretty stellar. The downside was my soggy sandwich with wilted hot lettuce and the “Greek potato salad,” that is pretty odd tasting. I would leave four stars, since the food wasn’t terrible, but considering the rave reviews this place has, I feel like they should probably be voted down a notch. So, probably my favorite thing about this place aside from the prices of the food, is the quality of the place overall. For bei g tucked into a small space, there is a LOT offered. The food is good quality for the prices. So, don't be fooled. When we came, it was slower for business, a weeknight, rush hour times. So, good was cooked and served super fast. The baklava is more fast food styled than traditional, from what little experience and understanding that I have. I am no expert, so take for what that is worth. It's clean and tidy. A little loud, just to let anyone with hearing sensitivities or hearing aids. But, they do pack food for the go. There is inside and outside seating, though limited. If coming with a large party... maybe call and ask the shop for advice first? Otherwise, perfect for a small group of 2-4 people looking for a cheap easy and quality spend.
