Utterly disappointing Experience at Raahi...
My group of five visited Raahi for lunch on their second day of opening, as it's conveniently located below our office. Unfortunately, the experience was quite underwhelming.
While the Goat Biryani was delicious and the Garlic Naan was flavorful, the rest of our meal was a letdown. The Chicken Biryani was forgettable, lacking any distinct flavor. The Shrimp Biryani was a complete disaster. The jumbo shrimp were undercooked and they just don't belong in a biryani. The Paneer Chettinad was also disappointing, with a partially cooked masala that smelled raw and had crunchy, raw onions.
Based on our meal, the name "Raahi Art of India" feels like a misnomer. The dishes we received did not reflect the art or care that Indian cuisine deserves. It's frustrating to see food that feels thrown together without passion or proper technique.
I'll be giving them a few weeks to improve before I consider visiting again. Hopefully, they can live up to the promise...
Read moreI was thrilled to discover that a new Indian focused restaurant has opened in South End, and I couldn’t wait to try it out. The experience did not disappoint.
Starter: The Honey Cauliflower was outstanding. It was crispy, flavorful, and packed with the perfect balance of crunch and spice.
Main Dish: I went with the Raahi Desi Fare: Chicken Tikka Masala. You can never go wrong with this classic, and it was exactly what you’d want on a cool fall evening or a rainy day. We ordered spice level 2 out of 5, which had great flavor, but next time we’ll go for level 3 to kick it up a notch.
Bread: The Garlic Naan was hands down the best we’ve had in Charlotte!! Perfectly charred, and bursting with flavor.
Dessert: We finished with the Rice Phirni, a fun twist on rice pudding. The orange based flavor gave it a refreshing, unique finish. If you enjoy rice pudding, this is a must-try.
Overall, it was a 10/10 experience!!! the food, service, and cleanliness were all excellent. We’ll...
Read moreIn South End's sea of breweries, burgers, and pizza, I am so happy Raahi is finally here! The service is quick, the dishes are great, and the food is unique for the neighborhood - what more could you ask for? We tried to the lamb samosa (different and tasty), chicken 65 (spice level 2 is not spicy, will kick it up to 4 next time - I did purposefully go mild), the dal (hearty), and butter chicken (the star - better than Curry Gate's). Anand, the owner who is local to the area, has big plans for the space with murals and a bar. Raahi fills a desperately-needed niche in South End and it's earned a spot on our...
