The food is great and I really liked coming here. Unfortunately the manager was pretty rude to our table, and it left a bad impression.
After ordering a few rounds of drinks, we noticed that the pours were incorrect. We had ordered double shots, but were underserved several times. The "double shot" was the exact same amount of alcohol as a single shot, just served in a different glass. It seemed like it could be a mistake, so I brought it up to our waiter to clarify the situation. He deferred to his manager, and she came over to speak with us.
She was immediately confrontational, despite our group being calm and polite to her. She accused us of lying in an attempt to get free alcohol. She did not speak with the bartender, or take any responsibility for the restaurant's mistake.
We were not rude, drunk, or unreasonable. We were genuinely trying to resolve the issue amicably. It's pretty insulting to have someone accuse you of lying over such a trivial thing ($30 worth of alcohol), especially in front of all your peers. Really, it could have been a perfect demonstration of how not to handle customer service.
That being said, she did adjust our bill after some discussion. She did not acknowledge the actual issue of underserved alcohol, and simply said "is that gonna make you happy if I adjust your bill?" It came across as pretty dismissive, like she still didn't believe us or care about the issue. But I suppose some credit is due, she fixed our bill so we weren't overcharged. Benefit of the doubt, she may have had a bad day. This could have all been a simple mistake or misunderstanding. But the whole situation had us feeling pretty bewildered. We ate here Saturday, 10/21/23. I do not remember the manager's name.
The food is great, and I used to love coming here. It's really a fun place to eat, I'm kinda sad I had this experience. It left a sour taste in...
Read moreI came last night around 8:30 pm with my bestfriend and we love RuRu's, the food and the atomosphere is normally amazing but my experience last night was horrible. Our server's name was printed on the receipt as "Ginny" she never introduced herself and wasn't in uniform so I really don't know who she was. We both got two shrimp tacos and mine were perfectly fine but my friend's tacos were very skimp (didn't have much food on the taco). Like 3 pieces of shrimp and a little lettuce and sauce and mine had at least 5 shrimps on each taco (it was very obvious). Not once were we being rude to ginny or trying to blame her for the skimp taco but we simply just asked for new tacos. She went on about how they wouldn't add more shrimp but she could bring out more lettuce and tomato to add to it and how the tacos normally come with 4 shrimps but then later switched it to 3-4 after my friend counted out the shrimps in front of her. My point for saying all this is, customer service is eveything. Instead of arguing with the customer just replace the food because at the end of the day her job is to serve the public food politely and not be combative, whether she agreed to the taco being skimp or not. That behavior led Ginny to receive no tip for the night and normally we are great tippers because we're very aware servers make their money by depending on tips. Also during this horrible experience she removed our plate saucers from the table and just dumped our silver ware that we did not use yet on the bare table. Then proceeded to stack chairs loudly at the tables right beside us, AS WE WERE STILL DINING. It was only 9pm and they close at 10pm. Overall, this experience was horrible and this server may need to do some more customer service training if she's going to continue serving for...
Read moreTaco Tuesday dates have become a bit of a tradition for my love and I 😍🌮 We decided to give RuRu's a try and right off the bat we run into a parking situation. The lot the GPS directs you to is tiny and the strip mall parking lot next door is equally tiny a full of reserved spaces. There's no clear signage on how to get to an additional lot on the other side of the building. In fact, it was hard to even figure where this place was without wondering around like lost puppies. But we finally found it and decide to sit out on the patio area which was nice looking. Server comes right away with water (but no salsa and chips) and goes over the Taco tuesday specials. They have eleven tacos on their menu and only TWO of them are on special which has to be one of the worst deals going in town. Out of those two, one wasn't even on the menu (fried oysters) so all of the other tacos range 4 to 5 dollars a piece! There best Taco was the steak (fat guy in little coat) I also had the chicken and pork but both had meat that was dry and lifeless. My lady did enjoy the special oyster taco but felt the same about the others. We had flavored frozen margaritas served with spoons (because they ran out of straws) but they were barely frozen, salty and the the flavor was mixed in very poorly. It made for one lumpy, messy tequila soup that I couldn't even finish. Needless to say, this experience left us very unsatisfied and it will off the list for any future Taco Tuesdays (or any other day). Way too many places with better options, more variety and...
