Seemingly Overzealous Ice Cream — Restaurant in Charlotte

We’re so excited to have Seemingly Overzealous in the neighborhood! The shop is so bright and inviting (complete with a colorful mural on the side of the building), you just can’t help but stop in - and you’ll be glad you did, because their flavors are out of this world (think classics like chocolate, vanilla, cookie dough, cookies and cream, coffee, etc. PLUS inventive takes on chai, toasted coconut & almonds, blood orange & ginger and so much more).

So, you choose your flavors (all have cute, clever names), you’re digging into your waffle cone, then you remember…. this ice cream is gluten/dairy free?! It’s like they’ve cracked the code on allergen-friendly ice cream - it tastes just as good as (or, arguably, better) than what you’d get at another local ice cream shop, and it’s inclusive toward all types of dietary restrictions. Just incredible. Also the seasonality and inventiveness of their flavors is so unique and exciting - I’ve truly not seen anything like it before, and it makes me want to come back as much as possible to see what flavors they decide to rotate in next time.

The absolute BEST ice cream I've ever had in my life. As a person who has never card for gluten-free products and, even though I am indeed lactose intolerant, prefers taste and texture over everything, I have been a ferocious supporter since the first day they opened at Camp North End because the product delivers EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. The flavor combos are delicious, with one-of-a-kinds like Golden Milk (one of my faves) to the traditional faves (like chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry), and collabs with other businesses (like seriously, bring back PONY TRACKS)...they do NOT miss. The amount of love and meticulous care that goes into creating their products is felt through each spoonful that hits my tongue. The owners are amazing people who support (LOUDLY lol) the local community and always have a smile for their customers. The entire concept is a representation of their love for each other, everything intentionally placed and named. I need one of these on the North Side...

I really wanted to like this location of Seemingly Overzealous after having tried(and really liked) their ice cream at their Camp North End location in Charlotte. However, I found the experience quite wanting.

The flavors that we got—Never Tear Us Apart(butter pecan), Spontaneous Regeneration(Strawberry) and I needed someone to Feed(brown sugar cinnamon)—tasted pretty unidimensional to the extent that we couldn’t eat them after a few scoops.

All their flavors are 100% dairy, egg and gluten-free. Besides ice cream, they also sell ice cream sandwiches.

The service was prompt and polite. The location is at the corner of The Plaza and Central Ave, right next to Dave’s Hot Chicken. Restroom inside was clean and there’s sufficient parking outside.
