Smashburger — Restaurant in Charlotte

This was our first time here, and the food was awesome, the restaurant was very clean too. It would have been a 5 star review if it was not for the very rude and hateful woman upfront taking your order. When we first walked in i thought she was a customer because she was sitting down eating which is cool no big deal everyone has to eat, but we stood there for about 7-10 mins waiting to see who was coming to take our order when she finished her food, she finally walks up to the counter and waits for us to order. When we started to ask a few questions she was getting even more rude & testy. She acted like we were the most inconvenient thing for her to do be doing. But fine w.e that's not uncommon these days. When our name was called she just hands the food off to us forgetting one of our basket's with as much attitude as a person can have. I pointed towards our other bakset saying we were missing it & she flipped out saying do not get near the food...... ok fine i get that but chill out and get rid of your problem towards me when i have not done nothing but be nice to you and leave a tip even though you dam sure did not deserve it, so after standing there anthoer 5 mins im like hey can i get the rest of my food????? Then to top it all off when we are cleaning up trash off table putting it in the baskets to throw away i stand up to put my child's jacket on ,my husband is finishing up picking up his trash still sitting down , this hateful a$# woman proceeds to yell ay us across the restaurant saying "You better buss your table, because we do not buss tables here ". Ok im on verge of cussing her out but i say back we know we just now stood up to do that!!!!! One my husband was still sitting down, i was barely out of booth myself and not like we would leave it sitting there we are not retarded. #2 DO NOT YELL at me across a restaurant like im so child!!!!! That's beyond disrespectful. Safe to say if we do return it will be getting food togo not dinning in if she's there. The 2 stars today is a one-off. The food was good but the service was not. The food was good; there was way too much mustard (spilling out and onto the side of the bun), and the oil on the smashfries tasted really old. Aside from the excess mustard, the burger was very good and the fries were fresh. The doors were open which may have been pleasant earlier in the day, but it’s hot and humid in here now. In addition, it violates a number of health code and allowed flies in.

The girl taking orders spoke too quietly to be heard over the background noise, didn’t listen well to the order, and can’t make change. She was pleasant, but needs more training.

The ice machine in the one working soda machine is barely functioning- it took about 2 minutes (literally) to fill a cup with ice.

When the person came over to ask me to fill out a survey, they put it down between my cane and my empty basket, but didn’t ask if they could clear my things. The weekday staff here takes everyone’s trash, and even McD’s employees offer to take it for people with mobility impairments most of the time. While that doesn’t normally figure into my reviews unless I’m pointing it out as sbove and beyond, if you’re actively begging for reviews, you should consider not making people hobble to the garbage can with a cane and a basket of trash and leftover fries. After a very disappointing experience at another Smashburger in Charlotte, my wife and I decided that we were still craving a Smashburger grilled chicken sandwich and decided to give this location a try on the very same day. We were happy we did.

Ordering online was a breeze and our food was hot and ready upon arrival. The manager, Stephanie, was delightful and made me laugh with her quick wit and vibrant personality. She went above and beyond, making me feel like she cared and was the epitome of what a great customer service professional should be. I left the store with a smile on my face and Stephanie made me forget about the horrible experience at the other location, managed and owned by different people.

The food was fresh and delicious…and exactly what we were craving. We were so satisfied that I will have them cater our next work event next week.

While all Smashburgers may not be managed as well as some others, this location in Cotswold Village is doing everything right. Impeccable customer service, conscientious ownership, and great food! Thank you.

*FOLLOW UP: Had E-Z Cater bring in Smashburger from this location for a company training. Everyone commented on how tasty everything was and how fresh the burger produce used was. Gallon of tea (in bag) was broken upon arrival and not the of any use but was the courier’s fault, not Smashburger. Will definitely frequent this...
