Avoid this place at all costs ESPECIALLY with a party of people. Keep in mind as you read this, I don’t typically review places unless they’re so bad I can’t understand how they’re still in business. We had a party of 10 come in for the all you can eat (which strangely was only an hour and a half time limit for those who are unaware), and we were sat right away.
Everything started out great, but then the first round of orders came out. We had noticed we had several things missing from our orders, however we were extremely patient knowing we had a “large” party (I used to work at a hibachi place where we would take parties of up to 40 at a time). Second round came out, missing more stuff, and still didn’t receive the missing items from the first one so at that point we decided to just reorder. Not sure what went wrong here, my best guess is the server was in too big of a hurry and skimmed the order sheets instead of taking the time to look over everything.
Still, no worries. We eventually got MOST things, but not all of course. One order was reordered 5 times, the first 2 times not received, the 3rd time was brought out with white rice. And the 4th time again was brought out with white rice, this time marked VERY VERY CLEARLY. 5th time was the charm, but at that point we were done eating so it was packed to go with white AND fried rice ???
The service was the main issue of the night but let’s talk about the food. It’s overpriced Mr. Tokyo. The slices of nigiri had paper thin fish on there, the eel sauce and yum yum sauce both tasted like city water with seasoning in them, and the fried rice had 0 flavor whatsoever. Genuinely wouldn’t be able to tell a difference between the white rice and fried rice if I was blindfolded. Not being dramatic either.
None of this would’ve sparked me to write a bad review on this place, but the thing that pushed me over the edge was simply the attitude from all the employees across the board. We were being so extremely patient and were not being rude about missing items or empty drink cups even though the service was dreadful. However, we were met with eye rolls from the girl who I assume was the host, and blatantly ignored by one of the food runners (he was staring right at my friend while she was talking to him while walking away).
I can understand that mistakes happen even though these mistakes were pretty excessive, as I was a waiter myself for 2 years. However I can’t understand why we were met with eye rolls and blatant disregard. The place was not even busy either as we got sat immediately! Not sure what was going on, maybe everyone was having a bad day, maybe it was just a Monday, maybe everyone was mad because they kept making mistakes, or maybe that’s just how the staff is at SushiHana. Considering it was multiple employees I’m gonna assume it’s the latter.
All in all, I would not recommend SushiHana to ANYONE except maybe someone I dislike. Huge waste of time and money, especially after getting hit with a laughable 20% GRATUITY. My bill for just myself ended up almost $50. What a joke. Do better SushiHana.
Sorry for being honest about the awful experience I had Vivian. I sure do hope one day you can forgive me and everyone else you’re mad...
Read moreMAKE SURE YOU ORDER ALA CARTE, not the all you can eat menu, unless youd prefer the all you can eat menu. Visited twice now. Food is phenomenal, I highly recommend going for the food. First night I arrived 45 minutes before close, they close at 930, Bill was paid and my party was gone by 932. Disdainful attitude from the hostess walking in, that continued from our server until we left. We were not once informed of the Ala carte menu on this visit. 2nd visit was worse. Hostess had same attitude(s). Despite their 45 min wait, that we had to specifically ask for wait time of, we found out we could sit at the sushi bar if we didn't want to sit at the regular bar (both bars empty). We could only sit at the regular bar by using the Ala Carte menu, which the hostess implied would be very different/more expensive. We opted for the sushi bar, tried two new sushi rolls and calamari appetizer. Our bill would have been approx 25$ plus one coke-cola and one soda water (3$+ for both drinks) if we were made aware of the ala Carte menu, which we were not. Instead we were charged 70+tip for the entire meal. The restaurant vaguely described Ala Carte menu, and heavily implied the regular menu was worth it, and not to bother asking about the Ala Carte. The "regular" menu is 28.99 per adult, 14ish$ per child. Specialty rolls are approx 12 per order, appetizers approx 5 when using the Ala carte menu. You are better off using that menu. All you can eat specifies two significant points, found at the bottom in nearly illegible print: 1) you cannot share your Ala carte orders amongst your party, 2) you will be charged for your leftovers. There are 10 rules overall for the "regular" (aka all you can eat) menu. Basically, unless all you can eat is better suited for you, make sure to at least view the Ala Carte menu, and clarify any questions, prior to ordering. I find this restaurants pricing and misleading pricing tactics to be abhorrable. Will I come back? Yes. I found the food that delicious, hence two stars. The blatantly sketchy pricing tactics, and less than desirable service, has resulted in my actively looking for a better sushi restaurant in the area. I will update this review with a recommendation when I find one. Mr Tokyo has great sushi, but it's much farther from this area...
Read moreI'm a fan of Mr. Tokyo's so I really wanted to try the competition.
Went for lunch today. We were sat quickly without a wait. I thought it was odd that our server didn't ask what we wanted to drink, only what our order was. We asked for drinks and it took so long to come out that I cancelled them.
Our server Brian was extremely nice and attentive other than the drink experience.
We got the calamari, the Kani salad, and the spring rolls for appetizers. The Kani salad was absolutely delicious with the right amount of spice. The spring rolls were extremely fresh and very hot. Like other people have said the calamari was extremely chewy. The breading was delicious but the calamari was hard to eat.
My dining companion ordered the hibachi. The Hibachi is definitely better at Mr Tokyo's. There's not much flavor to the hibachi at Sushi Hana and the cabbage that was cooked with the hibachi made the dressing that they use way too watery so it didn't stick to the meat very well. I'll pass on the hibachi next time.
We also had 4 rolls. I ordered a spicy tuna roll but they gave me a regular tuna roll instead. As a whole the rolls were really good and definitely on par with Mr tokyo. The one thing that I do like about Sushi Hana more is that there's a very thin layer of rice on each roll so you mostly taste the ingredients themselves.
Everything came out within 10 minutes of us ordering so it was extremely quick.
And I guess because our server felt bad that he took so long with our drinks that he put them in a to-go cup for us and didn't charge. So that was extremely thoughtful.
It is $4 to $5 more for lunch then Mr Tokyo's, but considering Mr Tokyo's is always extremely busy and you can never get a seat for lunch, I will definitely be back here!
Oh and by the way there is free parking in a parking garage on the opposite side of the restaurant for anyone...
