I have to give this flower child 3 stars for inconsistency… AND lack of ingredients on their kale/brussel sprouts salad… even though I always go here to eat when I’m in dilworth or the neighborhood because they are one of the few restaurants that I haven’t seen water bugs/palmettobugs/roaches or whatever they are, outside… AND I HAPPEN TO LIKE FC and their menu. But if one time I get chicken enchiladas and there’s no chicken in them and the next time I order them and get lucky, and have chicken in my chicken enchiladas, I get anxiety about what to order, will I get lucky or not? 🤷🏻♀️ Even the chocolate pudding that I order EVERY SINGLE TIME, never comes in the same portion or with the same ingredients on top, same container, yes… but sometimes I get 3 table spoons of pudding and a lot of toppings and sometimes, like today I got a decent amount of chocolate pudding with mainly coconut and none of the other toppings… 🤷🏻♀️ Which brings me to to strongly discourage you from trying the organic kale salad unless you just like eating plain shredded kale. The 3 grapes which were cut in halves, to help flavor a couple of bites of the shredded kale/brussel sprout mixture which I usually love, but could not tolerate after the 3 grapes, 3-4 thinly sliced apples and 3 bite size chunks of grape fruit were gone from the top of the salad, which had also caught most of the not so full small cup of dressing thrown on the top of the salad as well, and never made it to the large amount of shredded kale and Brussels sprouts. All that to say what a waste of a lot of organic kale, that I was looking forward to eating but not plain, as I ordered it in salad form. As a manager I do realize this is not on the staff but on poor management, as everything trickles down from poor training. Also apparent by the high turn over in staff; as I never see the same faces working from one visit to the next. I hope whoever is training will step up their game… you’re restaurant needs consistency even though you have a good location and a desirable menu. Though your numbers may look good and your owner may be happy, not all customers...
Read moreI ordered food over the phone at 8:15 PM and arrived at the restaurant at 8:40 PM. My experience was extremely disappointing. Upon arrival, my order wasn’t bagged, even though they’d had ample time to prepare it. I ordered an entrée, two sides, and a lemonade. However, when I arrived, I noticed the drink machines were drained because they were closing at 9 PM.
I asked if they still had lemonade, and the staff member said she’d check if there was any left in the back. She mentioned she would take it off my order if there wasn’t any available. While we were discussing this, someone cleaning up loudly said, “We’re closed.” I initially thought this was directed at someone who came in behind me, but no one had entered. I addressed it, saying I’d ordered at 8:15, so the comment was irrelevant.
To make matters worse, my order still wasn’t bagged, and the lady who took my order actually gave me directions on how to bag it myself, as if I worked there. Crazy part, it was other orders bagged and placed on a stand. This was my first time coming here, and based on this experience, it will be my last.
I haven’t even eaten the food yet, but based on the portion size compared to the price, I’m glad the lemonade was taken off the order. Overall, the lack of professionalism, poor service, and portion size left a bad impression. I cannot recommend this place. Not only does this look like a healthy choice frozen meal but I just tried the food and it tastes like hospital food.
Edit: After a disappointing first visit, I was contacted by the manager, who sincerely apologized and provided a gift card to make things right. I truly appreciate the effort to resolve the situation, and my second experience was much better.
This time, my food came out fresh and tasted great. The service was much improved, and I was even given some desserts to try as a gesture for the previous trouble. I really appreciate the manager’s professionalism and willingness to turn my experience around. It’s clear they care about their customers, and I’ll definitely be giving Flower Child...
Read moreOkay. I am going to sound so mean this afternoon but this really happened. We had been here a few years ago when house hunting in Charlotte. It was a good experience. Today, we had an errand to run in the area & I suggested we go back to Flower Child. We live in DAVIDSON, coming to Charlotte is an adventure. Very different from the small town we live in. When we walked into Flower Child this afternoon. I said hello to a young lady that was in the Take Out area and she just gazed at me. I then said, I like your sweater and again, no response. I popped into the restroom & met my husband at the counter to order and I told him. He was like maybe she didn’t hear you, perhaps she’s got air pods in, something. The whole encounter just felt uncomfortable & unprofessional. I don’t think I have encountered such a thing. In fact, never! Managers, if you are reading this, perhaps a little talk to your people about rudeness might be in order. Let’s get right to the real reason we are here, to review the food. Here are some pics of lunch. I had the enchilada bowl and my husband had the Thai Wrap. He really liked his wrap. I felt my bowl was okay. I’m a bit spoiled. We eat out a lot & my husband can really cook. We enjoy grass fed meats & organic ingredients. I don’t think I would have that enchilada bowl again. I’ll try something else next time. The young lady that brought our food out was very nice! We had forgotten utensils and she went and got them for us. She made up for that horrible first impression. Oh yes, one big thing, the decor! Anthropologie vibes everywhere. Love that! To the young lady that wasn’t very nice, I hope you see this. Life is too...
