Wow, my recent trip to "The Salty Donut" near uptown was an absolute 🌟 delight! This modern, upscale spot for fresh, homemade donuts is a true gem that shines bright ⚡. As soon as I walked in, those high ceilings greeted me with open arms, creating an airy and inviting vibe ☁️. And can we talk about the stunning aesthetics? 🎨 Simply exquisite!
The front counter service was a speedy 🏃♂️ wonder, catching my eye right away. With a vast donut display right upfront, choosing my treats was a breeze 💨. Oh, and major kudos to Adam at the register! He went above and beyond, sharing his fave donut picks 🍩. His insights were my secret weapon in making decisions!
And let's not forget the payment part—it was a breeze 🌬️. Those modern card readers? 🙌 Seamless, sleek, and added to my overall satisfaction.
Now, for the pièce de résistance—the donuts themselves! 🍩🎉 I simply couldn't resist diving into their tempting variety. Among my tasting adventures, the yeast-based donuts emerged as the heroes 🦸♂️. The fluffy, pillowy texture was a dream come true. The Banana Pudding donut? 🍌✨ A star! Soft as a cloud, with a creamy pudding center and a fresh banana slice on top—pure heaven in every bite.
A close runner-up? The Chocolate Chai donut. 🍫☕ The balance of rich chocolate and subtle chai spice was a party for my taste buds!
As for the cake donuts, they were a yummy adventure, but the yeast treats stole the spotlight ⭐. The Brown Sugar and Salt cake donut? A comforting explosion of flavors that made my taste buds dance 💃.
In a nutshell, "The Salty Donut" blew me away! From the ambiance to the service and, of course, the insanely scrumptious donuts, this place is a haven for all us donut lovers 🍩❤️. Read moreI want to begin by stating I love the donuts and the coffee is also delicious. I also want to state that the employees are hard working and helpful.
I pick up donuts on my way to my volunteer gig which is early. Most places aren't open, so I was thrilled when Salty Donut opened up and opened early and their stuff was great, so why am I leaving a 2 star rating?
Because the last three times I have been in early - around 7:10, maybe only one or two donuts are ready, so I leave empty handed and have to scramble for some other places I can go get something for the volunteers. Now, if this were a coffee shop that had donuts, I wouldn't be disappointed. But this a donut shop that has coffee. I'm not trying to be a pain but if you offer donuts and you open at 7am, I should have some expectations that donuts will be available to buy.
As I stated, employees are working hard and what they produce is really good-especially the donut holes, so it's not people being slack. I'm not sure what the timing issue is, but if most donuts can't be ready at 7 when you open, maybe opening at 7 won't work. I'll be sad, but it beats being frustrated. I can't be told to come back in 30-45 minutes to pick up donuts that I need now, and again, if donuts won't be ready until 7:45 why open at 7. Maybe its just for the coffee, but I get coffee there because I am getting donuts.
Anyway, the donuts and employees are great, the timing is just an issue. I'll keep recommending you all, but only if people are going after 8am. I'd love to return because volunteers love the donuts, but I can't keep going and leaving with nothing. Thank you for listening...
Read moreI was so excited and I really wanted this to be my new donut spot but I just can’t like it! And I REEEEEAALLLY tried!! 😞 We visited on Saturday around noon and thankfully there was no line. The donuts have an AMAZING presentation and despite the price of $3.49-$4.99, you may be tempted to buy one of each. And they looked absolutely delicious in the box!! But once I took a bite of the white chocolate and chai donut, my excitement instantly deflated like a popped balloon! The donut itself lacked flavor AND moisture. I thought that maybe I just got a bad donut so I should just try a different one and I opted to taste the brown butter and salt donut. SAME THING!! 😠The texture of the donut was as if it was three days old. I thought that maybe it would soften up if I put it in the microwave but should I really have to heat up a donut that I just bought from the bakery thirty minutes ago?? We also tried the regular glazed (probably the least disappointing), the milk and cookies (didn’t like it), the pistachio and chocolate cannoli (dry and blah), and the dark chocolate & passion fruit (nope!). It’s really frustrating that so much time and effort went into the presentation of these donuts when the chef should’ve actually spent more time on the foundation. And we tasted the salt element in multiple donuts which was a turn off as well. I thought ‘Salty Donuts’ was just the name, not a description of the donuts!! Ugh!!!!! I will say that the person that helped us place our order was so wonderful and helpful. But I just can’t be a fan. We buy donuts to eat, not for their artistic design and I’m so...
