I came from out of town on a Friday night, hoping to get some line dancing in, but this place was such a disappointment. It is sad because this place has a great atmosphere and so much potential, but it is is overrun with young millennials that don't know how to line dance and who just stand around and drink on the floor. Most real country dance halls don't allow drinks on the floor, both for safety, but also so dancers can actually dance. There should also be a no standing/dancing only on the dance floor, but there is no structure here. Again, the atmosphere was really cool, but there is a bar and pool hall connected for those that just want to stand around. I guess youngsters here don't know how to line dance or two step, or about dance etiquette. Also side note, I was probably one of three people in the whole place actually in cowboy boots. Apparently the style here is white sneakers with no socks, kakki shorts, golf shirts or tee shirts, and baseball caps. Women dress similarly, but with jean shorts. They all look like golf clones.

The Rose is a country bar / honky tonk in South End Charlotte nestled in the Bland St area bar scene. It has line dancing instruction on Tuesdays, Karaoke on Wednesdays, Music Bingo on Thursdays, live music on Saturdays. Local two-steppers seem to dance mostly Tuesdays and Sundays. There are staff and locals who are proficient dancers and friendly enough to share how-to tips and instructions. It has no cover charge & checks IDs at the door. This bar gets very busy on Friday and Saturday nights and doesn't claim to be anything but a honky tonk good time. My partner and I have enjoyed two-stepping on the open floor before it gets busy. Saturday night acts have been good-to-great while this bar further develops its identity and following. Main bar bartenders are some of the longest standing in the area with decades of experience between them. Weekday Drink specials at the time of this review: Tuesday: $4 White Claw & $4 Twisted Tea Wednesday: 1/2 off Well Drinks Thursday: $8 Specialty Cocktails Friday: $5 Jack, Jim, George, & Jose

A very scary experience with very aggressive staff. We feared for our safety. We were in VIP. At the end of the night, these two staff members tried to aggressively throw us out. The female threw a drink at my friend and the male accosted us. They called us white trash. I was terrified and spoke to police about it, who said we needed to take it up with management. Staff refused to tell us who the manager was for us to speak with. We will never return.

The Rose is a blast! I was so excited to see a new country bar opening in South End. Something the area desperately needed, and it shows.. the place is PACKED every weekend night! They have events each night of the week to offer something to do on weeknights. The live bands on Saturdays always makes for a great time. You can find me singing my heart out to my favorite country songs, and dancing around the dance floor! I reserved a booth for my friends and I for a birthday celebration and it was such a great experience. We had our own cocktail server who served us all night long! It was so nice to stay put, dance the night away and have our drinks brought to us! Our server was Somer and she is GREAT! Every other bartender and cocktail server that we came in contact with had nothing but great things to say about working there and they looked like they were having a blast! Will keep coming back for a honky...
