This place is small so we sat outside bc it was a nice night. They had one waitress and one hostess. The hostess actually came out to take our drink and food order after 20 mins of waiting. We ordered jerk chicken and curry goat. Our food came out 35 mins later and while the curry goat was good the jerk chicken was over cooked and dry. The hostess came back to check on us and I told her the chicken was dry and I sent it back. At this point it was already over an hour of us being there. She asked if I wanted something else and I said no so she took the food away. About 5 mins later the waitress comes out with our check and says someone told her to give it to us. Mind you, my friend is still eating. So I took the check inside and asked for the owner. He came over and I told him what happened. He said he told the waitress to take the chicken off the bill, not come bring us the bill. Then he asked what happened with the food. I told him the chicken was over cooked and dry. He apologized and asked if I liked shrimp, I said yes and he said I'm going to take care of you and it won't be long. About 10 mins later he brought out a plate with some big jerk shrimps, veggies and rice. It was delicious! After I was done eating we told the waitress we were done and asked for the check. She went in then came back out and said the dinner was on the house. She apologized again and I left her a nice tip. I appreciate how the owner handled the situation and...
Read moreI will start by saying I know that because of the labor shortage and summer rush that service right now is difficult, and I give this two stars because the quality of the food was good. However the service was poor, unreasonable, and slow. We decided to do take away and ordered an hour in advance as we know that the restaurant can be slow, especially on a busy night. We were told it should take 30 minutes. We showed up 45 minutes later just to be sure and waited at the counter 15 minutes before anyone talked to us. After finally getting someone’s attention and paying the bill we still had to wait an additional 20-30 minutes for the food (which wasn’t ready apparently.) During this time there was not a single apology for the wait, offer to comp anything, or an attempt to explain the issue to us. To be fair we didn’t ask for any of these things either but that is because I know how stressful service work can be when customers get frustrated. In the end the food was ready nearly 1 hour later than they said it would be. Again no communication other than bye and have a nice night. When we got home we realized that they had gotten our order wrong as well.
I would not recommend this restaurant to others because of the quality of the service was beyond the norm bad. That said if you have time to wait and you know what you’re getting into in terms of service quality, the...
Read moreYesterday, July 22, at 7 pm we stopped at this restaurant before going for the Chatham Guild Theater performance across the street. We thought about a coffee but the waitress was unable to answer the question if we could have just coffee. So we decided to have a drink instead. We ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio and gin with tonic. We got a bill of $29.95 ( without any details such as price of wine and gin). Drinks were served on the outside table. We asked the waiter who served our drinks for a price of wine and gin, since it looked a bit expensive. We expected a bill of~ $22. After all Pinot Grigio is one of the least expensive white wines and we did not specify any expensive gins. The waiter said he will check and never came back with the answer. It is not about the money, but about dishonest service…..and that just killed our desire to come back for any service in the future. BWT: The play was enjoyable and highly recommended for a summer evening. And The Guild has a bar inside…..what a...
