SOMETHING HAS HAPPENED, TWICE!! BAD GYRO SAUCE???!!! 1st the PROS: This has always been my favorite gyro on the planet and best onion rings ever. My favorite part is the gyro sauce. I dip the onion rings in it and load the gyro up with it. CON: HOWEVER, the last 2 times (several weeks ago and tonight), the gyro sauce was thick and popping the lids off from the bacteria!!! I figured it was a once off sort of thing a few weeks ago. When you open the lid it exasperates air and the lid is swollen like it's about to pop off. Last time the lids literally popped off on the counter and ran out onto the counter. And now it's much thicker than it's ever been. I'm not certain it's completely bad as I can't find out what that all means for yogurt or whatever they're using, but it's no longer really thin where you can pour it, and it almost tastes fermented. It's super thick and growing. Whatever they've done different, after 30 years of eating there, for the 1st time ever I'm super hesitant to eat there anymore and that I sincerely hate because it really is the best gyro. I've eaten them all over the US. The best. But the bad...

Ankar’s has always been a favorite of ours, but I’ve never taken the time for a review. After exceptionally great service today, I had to write one! The food is ALWAYS amazing — even for vegetarians. Some favorites are the steak and provolone, cheeseburger, black bean burger, fries and onion rings! (They also have THE BEST ranch and sweet tea).

I usually call ahead if I have a big order because everything is made fresh so it takes a minute, but so worth it. Tonight I called in a large order for our entire family and said I would be there in 15 minutes. I arrived a little earlier than that so I went in and paid as they were finishing my order. While in there, I watched one of the women in the back (who i believe is a manager) triple check my order along with 2 employees. She also helped them stack accordingly, so nothing was squished or spilled. The employee even took the time to go over that with me when handing me the food. Bravo guys!!...

Really wanted to love this place because they have an awesome menu, and an incredibly friendly staff. The great staff is what kept me from giving them 1 star. I ordered the black bean veggie burger, the falafel rider, some onion rings, and fries. The burger was ok. Had a weird aftertaste to it that I couldn’t identify. None the less, it was ok. The fries were not goodZ I don’t know if I just got a bad order, but they were very soggy. No crunch to them at all. The onion rings were decent. I wasn’t mad at them. The falafel is what has earned the majority of this bad review. I felt so sick after taking a few bites of the falafel. It tasted off. I don’t know if the hummus was rancid, or if some of the veggies went bad but I had to pull over and throw up. The rest of the night my stomach was uneasy.
