Ankar's Hoagies — Restaurant in Chattanooga

Up until now I have never had a problem with Ankar's. But today the Hixson location has made me have a negative outlook on their definition of customer service. on 9/19/19 I went to this location and ordered a BLT in a sack and a small order of fries w/ranch dressing and paid $8.83. When I got to work to eat my food the BLT was cold and tough to eat and the fries were okay. I called back and spoke to the manager (dark headed lady) and she was very apologetic and took my name down and said when you come back your meal is on us. Well I went back today 9/25/19 and Placed my order. This time just a small Chef's salad w/ a small fry which according to the young man at the window was $8.50. When I pulled up I told him about the conversation from the 19th and he went and got the manager. She comes up and says "Yes " I reminded her of the call on the 19th. She then said "ok" yes let us get you taken care of. I told her that I ordered a said instead of the BLT this time and I can pay the difference between the totals. She then says "ok" that will be $3.29. I asked was that the true difference between the two and she said "Yes". Now anyone that knows simple math knows that the difference between $8.83 and $8.50 isn't $3.29. So I said well that's "ok". She then says no take the food I'm not going to argue over $3. I politely asked the guy for my debit card and I told her that I will NEVER be back and I drove off. (I have also dined in too so it not JUST delivery) This location in particular is my favorite because Nic, Jen, and the rest of the staff there are absolutely wonderful. I'm always happy to support their family business any day of the week ESPECIALLY when they are dishing out such awesome food and customer service.

Anyways, here's my more in depth break down for you guys that want more details.

Price: The price is perfect for what you choose to get whether it's the steak in a sack (my personal favorite) or their baklava, you'll NEVER be burdened with unfair prices.

What I Consumed/Devoured: The S T E A K IN A S A C K BAYBEEEEEE!!! Where do I begin?! It's so good????? It's juicy, filling, thrilling, and honestly I could eat it for the rest of my life if I was forced to.

Staff: Absolute troopers!!! They're such kind, hard working people. If you ever find yourself chatting with any of them on a day where it isn't insanely busy, I implore you to ask about the history of their restaurant. It's super interesting! I hope you treat them with nothing but kindness and respect during your time there! They certainly deserve it.

Atmosphere: Super comfy. Nothing fancy really and it doesn't need to be fancy. It is simple, pleasant, warm, and inviting.

Delivery: Fast, efficient, and was still super hot by the time it reached me at work! And it tasted awesome as always.

I ordered a Gyro with and cheese & extra meat. Because I know Im not in Chicago and these people probably dont know how to put the proper amount of meat on my Gyro. Well, needless to say it was definitely lacking in size and weight. The meat was dry and it was luke warm at best after a 2 minute drive home. Not very good. Ate in like 2 minutes because it was so small. Gotta get it together if youre going to charge $9.06 for that kind of sandwich. I almost feel like calling and complaining but, I doubt it will do any good. I will not be spending any of my money there again. Ill make it myself. Very dissapointed. But, I do see that there is a very much needed place for a great sandwich shop down here in Chattanooga because, yall dont have it. Try and do a better job at what you put out. It will pay for itself later. Maybe dont hire a bunch of High School Students to work there. It seemed to make up most of your staff. Not only are they inefficient & lack people skills but they are not going to put out the quality of food that you would expect because they simply do not care and are just there to make a paycheck. You may have fueled my fire more to open up my own place one of these days. Yall only have one good sandwich shop here in Chattanooga and this one, "Ankars" is not it. Maybe a Boat Anchor.
