I've been fortunate to have had the opportunity of visiting many different Lego stores around the world. They may all have the same products with a similar store layout & aesthetic, but I can unequivocally say not all Lego stores are the same! What ultimately makes the difference are the people. This was my first time ever at the Cherry Hill location and it was an abysmal experience. It was a Sunday afternoon and the store was moderately busy. Out of the 5 employees I could see “working” one of them was building a set in the middle of the store, two other employees were deep in conversation in the back corner, one employee was wandering around straightening items on the shelves, and only one employee was trying to handle the long line of people waiting to check out. I was finally able to get an employee’s attention after about 20 minutes. They seemed annoyed that I had a few questions and their answers were short and curt. One of the questions I had was regarding the pick-a-brick wall that every Lego store has. If you bring in and reuse a cup from a previous purchase, you are eligible for a discount. However, because I was traveling, I didn’t have my cups available. In the past other Lego stores have allowed me to fill up one of their cups and then just dump it into a bag. Essentially, not having to take a new cup. When I asked the employee if I could do that, they said they would have to check with the supervisor. They walked away and after about 10 minutes returned and said they don’t do that because it's against company policy. This really confused me since I have done it at other Lego store locations. So, I asked to speak with the supervisor directly just to get some clarification. The employee blankly stared at me and sarcastically said “S u r e” and walked to the back again. About 5 minutes later they came back and said the supervisor is too busy to talk right now but I can leave my contact information and they’ll call me when they can. I said no thanks and left the store. Needless to say, I am grateful this location is not my local store. I genuinely feel sad for the population of Cherry Hill, NJ if this is the only representation or exposure they get of the Lego Group because it’s far better than that. I will continue to still go to Lego stores in my travels but if I ever find myself in Cherry Hill again, I’ll just go to a...
Read moreThe good: The store is very clean, well organized, stocked and maintained. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They're ready to answer questions and give assistance as soon as you need it. They have a decent selection and quite a few discounted/sale items. I noticed that they currently have in stock 5 different modulars, as well as a nice selection of Technic and Architecture sets.
The bad: It's a very, very small store. Of course there's nothing to be done about that now; but I question why it was planned to be so small. It's the only store in South Jersey with the nearest other stores being along the lines of 30 miles away: to the north (45 mi.), south (40 mi) and west (30mi.). (I know this is a horrible complaint to some other AFOLs in areas were the nearest store is measured in milage of three digits or more...but bear with me.)
The PaB wall is very, very small and not changed often (I've placed phone calls more than I've visited the store). The parts available are really of no good use to even the most minor of MOC builders. (I'm mostly a kit builder with a very few MOCs.)
I went there today with the expectation of getting double points on GBHQ, but the May 4th promotion was only on Star Wars sets. I asked the manager if she was able to make an adjustment to the points, but she said (quite nicely and apologetically) that she was unable. I was going to buy quite a bit...until I found out that they were out of the promotional First Order Stormtrooper. Apparently they were only sent 90 promotional poly bags. Who makes a decision like that? NINETY promotional items. Because of the lack of the FO Trooper, the store manager gave me a Mr. Freeze, but that's not what I was there for.
This is the second time of the three trips I've made there that I left with far less than I had planned on buying.
In the end, if I want to make a large VIP based point purchase, I'll make a day of shopping and head over to one of the other stores. It's a shame; the Cherry Hill store had so much potential when it was...
Read moreI can't say enough great things about the amazing employee Aiden who helped me today at the Lego store in cherry hill. My son was missing a crucial piece to complete his Lego masterpiece, and after getting nowhere with the corporate help center, I decided to call the store in hopes of finding a solution.
Aiden went above and beyond to help us. Not only did he listen carefully to our situation, but he also patiently searched through inventory, checked the back room, and even suggested creative alternatives in case the exact piece couldn't be found. His dedication, knowledge, and kindness turned what could have been a frustrating experience into a joyful one. He even kept the piece safe til we were able to get to the store and pick it up.
Thanks to his efforts, my son’s masterpiece is now complete, and his smile is absolutely priceless! This level of service truly reflects the magic of the Lego brand. Thank you for hiring such incredible team members who care so deeply about...
