Had a strange experience at Thai Kitchen, something I never expected. Right inside the door to this place, there was a bare fish tank - no rocks, plants or other stuff, except for a single, lone fish. It was one of those fish with the bulbous heads, about 4-5 inches long. Decent size. I wound up playing with this fish before we got seated. As soon as I walked up to the tank, he noticed me and swam over to me. I put my finger on the tank and moved it along the tank, and the fish followed it. I went back and forth, running my finger along the tank, and the fish followed it non-stop. I was amazed!! Never played with a fish before. Well, unfortunately, we got seated and our game had to end. From my seat, I could see the tank and the fish. And i swear to God, I could just tell that the fish was lonely. He literally just sat there in the water, barely swimming, just hovering. Anyone with an ounce of empathy could tell it was sad by just looking at it. Well, I couldn't stop looking at the fish, and then I started to get sad. So we had to leave. It just ruined my mood. On the way out, I inquired about the fish and found out that it's been in that tank for 4 years!! No other fish, rocks or do-dads, just an empty tank of water. I didn't eat Thai food, but I learned something about myself, and I made...
Read moreToday is my birthday eve, we drove an hour to have a lovely day in Chester as a family and we wanted to enjoy one of our special places to celebrate! We’ve been coming to get glass noodles and pineapple fried rice for years! Tonight we got our food and it did not taste right. It was VERY spicy and it has never tasted that way before. When my parents went in to explain once again that we have food allergies and could not eat the food, they had him buy an entirely new meal that was supposed to be vegetable fried rice and they told him to mix it with the spicy rice to calm it down. That did not work because we cannot eat spicy food. But the vegetable fried rice has chicken in it! We never asked for spicy and we never asked for meat! About $80 later we’re stuck with 4 orders of disgusting tasting rice. They would not correct the issue. Most restaurants remake the food when they mess it up! This has been the worst birthday eve dinner of my life! My mom even went in to try and get an explanation but they really couldn’t give one and refused to make it right. We will never be back to Thai Kitchen in Chester...
Read moreI really do love this place, damn near flawless establishment. The service is always quick and friendly. The food is delicious, the interior of the place is clean and has a nice aesthetic to it. But a pet peeve of mine is when an obviously successful establishment such as this one, cheaps out on portions.
The lunch specials are priced around $12 and the dinner closer to $20. I grew tired of never being fulfilled by the lunch portion so I tried ordering the dinner size. For $20, the dish was very disappointing. I've gone to other thai places that charge around $10 for the same platter and get about 40% more.
Considering inflation and location (everything is over priced in Chester) it does make sense. But I see skimping portions as a big sign of weakness/greediness from the business.
I'd go here 3 times a week if the portions were decent, but they aren't. I've been passively vocal with the staff regarding the matter, but I don't expect them to change anything from what I've said.
Delicious food and great atmosphere but for my money, I'd say it isn't...
