I came here because I have never had Chicago style deep dish pizza and I wanted to give it a try.
The staff inside were friendly and helpful. I ordered their smallest Chicago style deep dish and I wasn't able to finish half of it.
I ordered pepperoni and mushroom, I probably should not have gotten the mushroom. Mushroom might have been from a can I should have asked, but apparently you don't want wet things added to a deep dish pizza, but I don't think it adversely affected it.
There's a lot going on in a deep dish pizza. It takes 45 minutes to bake. Off hand it looks like there was a bottom layer of pepperoni and maybe mushrooms, a whole bunch of cheese, and a layer of sauce on the top.
The crust is the standard pizza crust.
Some people don't like Chicago style pizza, strictly a preference for some, but if you've never had one, this is your chance. If you've never had Chicago style pizza, just try it. I really enjoyed mine, and they seem to do it pretty well.
I'm traveling without my family, I saw was not worried about gluten free, but they do have a gluten-free crust. The gluten-free crust does contain cheese. Many celiacs cannot have dairy so that would not be possible for you.
I don't think I'll try it again, but knowing what I know now if I still hadn't tried one, I would still give it a go. And especially if you are in the area here, this is much closer than Chicago.
I knew I could never finish that pizza so I didn't try any of their other items. Their salads look really good and they have some kind of special chicken that I simply didn't have enough stomach...
Read moreI write my review as I stand inside the establishment, shocked at the complete disregard for safety of customers that Father and Son's Pizza is taking during the COVID-19 pandemic. There are currently 9 employees behind the counter, all within one foot of each other not wearing masks and taking precautions to ensure the safety of themselves and customers. The woman who took my payment, after touching my credit card, went straight to putting together boxes without washing her hands. I am able to see another employee drinking from a cup and leaving it on the counter where pizzas are made. A sign on the front of the door boasts that masks are not required and customers are walking in and out without taking any precaution.
I am a huge fan of the product that the store produces but likely will not be returning due to the extreme disregard for safety and infection control that has been displayed today. I urge those with compromised immune systems to avoid the establishment during the pandemic and to exercise caution when visiting in the future.
Update: My order was also incorrect, missing toppings. They did give a discount for the error, but the entire experience was a...
Read moreThe Employees were clean, professional and the restaurant was clean so I give 5 stars for all that. The food, well the deep dish Chicago was just ok, it way overpriced at $30 for a medium three toppings. I payed that much for real Chicago pizza in Chicago at lou Malnati's. The bottom crust was way too wet and not crispy, I had to run it through my oven at home to crisp it up. The three of us that ate it, we never ate pizza from here and decided to try it based on the Google reviews. It wasn't the worst pizza but it also wasn't in my top five. I personally wouldn't order pizza here again but like I said, it wasn't the worst. It wasn't so bad that I had to feed it to the dogs like I've done other places. The prices are outrageous try some Italian seasoning, a little sugar, basil oregano and rosemary in your sauce. 1st...
