Valentines Evening Dinner
I was invited by my friend Darlene Williams (Head Hostess) to share this very special evening at "Bishop's Post" with my husband and our good friends. Although, I was nervous about the dining experience for this very special night Darlene assured me that we would enjoy it. When we arrived we were greeted by the very friendly hostess staff. We were seated immediately into a booth which was what I really wanted for us. Our waiter was friendly and despite us have a thousand questions he answered each request with a smile.(even us requesting slight menu changes) I appreciated that because I'm in the business of event planning and I'm always looking for different venues. As we sat in our booth we were able to imagine the outside eating area in the spring and summer with the waterfall flowing in the back drop. Even tonight the water is flowing making the view enjoyable. After ordering and receiving our before dinner drinks we enjoyed conversation and the warmth from the fireplace, took pictures to remember the night. Our food arrives and its a bonus everything was delicious the Prime Rib, Scallops, BBQ Ribs, and Steak. My friends were really impressed as well as they have dined all over the world and have very exquisite pallets for foods of all types. We had no complaints, and would recommend anything on the menu beginning with the salad. The portion size was more than enough and three out of four of us left with take home bags.
Now on to dessert, what's not to enjoy about that, I wanted and needed something sweet to end this Special night with so I selected the edible toffee cup with ice cream and fresh fruit and whipped cream. We all took our spoons and enjoyed the specialty of this desert. Yummy!!! The staff was more than courteous always checking in on our table and there was a gentleman in a red shirt who told us to make sure to stop at the hostess point on our way out to get a special treat of chocolate. I want to say thanks Darlene for the invite we will be back and will share our experience with our friends and business partners for future reservations and booking for special events. "Bishops Post" gave us and our friends a Valentines Night to...

My 90 year old Aunt, my sister and brother-in-law who are in their 70's, and my wife and I went came to eat an early dinner on a Monday at around 3:30 pm. 5 of us. We wanted to sit outside because it was a pleasant but sunny day. I requested the hostess that we sit in the shade and she told my that all of the tables in the shade that could accommodate 5 were reserved. It was 3:30 pm on a Monday so that caught me by surprise. I assumed that they must have a large coming in. She said they could get us a table with an umbrella that would provide some shade and I said that was fine.
No problem yet.
I was very surprised when we went out on their patio to see only 3 tables under the shaded area with people eating. That seemed to go against my assumption that that area had been reserved for a large group. I asked a server if they did have a large group coming in and she said she did not believe so. Hmmm. We fiddled with the umbrella however due to the breeze and angle of the sun, 2 or three of us were in the sun. Being outside was very pleasant if you were in the shade, not in the sun. I finally asked our server if he could send someone out to better explain the situation. A manager came out and explained that they have a "policy" that prevents them from moving 2 tables. After some discussion, he offered to move us however we were already eating our main meal and didn't want to go through that disruption.
I don't recall ever being at a restaurant with movable tables that wouldn't move a table to accommodate a group of 5. I could maybe understand this policy if it was indoors however this was outside and hardly busy at all.
I do enjoy eating at nicer places however it doesn't fit my definition of a nice place if they have "policies" that are that customer unfriendly. My request seemed very reasonable to me. Your biggest vote these days is with your dollar and there are too many other fine restaurants where this situation never would have happened. Our bill with appetizers, drinks and dinner came to over $250. You can...
Read moreOur first visit to Bishop's Post was early December 2014. There were four in our party and only two of us ordered the same entree. Everyone at our table enjoyed their meal and as I really enjoy good salmon , that was my choice. Let me say that any first-time visit to a restaurant is usually a sampling of their salmon. I think I have had salmon in most restaurants in the St. Louis area and Bishop's Post, by far and away is the best I have had. They nailed it and I am almost afraid to order it again should it not live up to my new expectations for a perfect salmon entree. The service was impeccable, the menu offers a bill of fare that should meet anyone's approval. Moderately priced, nice ambiance and just a very enjoyable dinner with good friends. Our next visit was to sample the lunch menu and I met my wife and daughter on a wednesday afternoon. I arrived a bit earlier than the others and had an opportunity to talk to the hostess who was a very charming lady and great conversationalist. Our server, John, was one of the most intuitive servers I have encountered and his timing was nothing less than perfect. Two of us ordered a cup of their gumbo and I would go back just for that. If you like gumbo, you will love Bishop's Post. My daughter and my wife ordered salads and both commented about how good the dressing was. I ordered the turkey club sandwich and was not disappointed. This restaurant is definitely going to be one of our regulars and hopefully will be there for a long time. Thank you Bishop's Post for two fantastic meals and we'll...
