After reading the positive reviews we were excited to try this restaurant for Father’ Day. Unfortunately the drinks, meal and service left a lot to be desired. We sat on the bar side of the restaurant at a high top table because the restaurant side was booked out (although I don’t know how). We ordered an Arnold Palmer, a lemonade, the berry mojito, and mandarin mule. The AP and lemonade were undrinkable. They were so sour and tart (rancid) that we returned and stuck with water. The berry mojito was flavorless. The mule inconsistant but pretty good. Maybe it was a new bartender. Next were the appetizers. We ordered the crab-stuffed mushrooms and hot honey goat cheese with cherry tomatoes. The mushrooms were nice, but the goat cheese was melted in a condiment dish with one quartered cherry tomato and some slices of overly toasted sourdough. Again, maybe it was a new line cook. The main courses were also inconsistent. We ordered a rib eye, brown sugar salmon, fish and chips, sliders and an apple almond salad with a few sides. The sides were tiny portions. Less than a small cup of soup in size. The steak, salmon and fish and chips were good - salmon was the best. But the apple salad was inedible. The dressing was sugary sweet, saturating limp lettuce, and the apples were huge slices that had already turned brown (think a bag of apples your child didn’t eat in their lunch). At this point we felt so bad for the waiter that we just covered it with a napkin. Because it was Father’s Day, we wanted dessert and ordered the carrot cake and peanut butter pie to share. Everything looked delicious until I took the first bite and we looked at our spoons. They were used with food ALL OVER THEM. At that point we asked for the bill. The waiter profusely apologized but nothing was comped, in fact we were charged for the rancid drinks, soup that we never received, an inedible main, and desserts eaten with dirty spoons. The bathrooms were also pretty gross. $268 later, we left supremely disappointed, feeling slightly ill at the thought of eating other people’s leftover food off dirty utensils, and vowed never to return. Read moreWriting a review for this restaurant is a long time coming. I have eaten here at least 3 times before, but it's been so long ago that I couldn't really recall the experiences or the food. With that said, I ate here a few days ago, so I thought it was best that I write a review while the experience is still fresh in my head. Everything went really well during my visit. First off, I was worried because I knew this restaurant is a sought-after place to eat at so when I entered, there was a line. I thought it was going to take a while for my party and I to get sat, but thankfully, the line went quickly. I'll start with the service. Well, I have no critiques to speak of about that area. All the employees I interacted with were very friendly, especially the young lady who was our waitress. She was very attentive and accommodating. As for the atmosphere, it was, for the most part, pretty comfortable. I will say there is a clear difference between the dining area and bar area. The dining area was, I'd say, more formal, and people were really dressed up, whereas the bar area was more casual and relaxed. It had been so long since I had been here, so I forgot the dining area was a bit dressy. It's safe to say my party, and I felt pretty underdressed. But no one made us feel uncomfortable about it, so that's a good thing. Now, getting to the main part about reviews for restaurants and that's the food. The food was on point, that's for sure. Our order came out in a timely manner, and it was hot and fresh. I have zero complaints about the food. I had a loaded baked potato as my starter, and that was amazing for those who are baked potato fans. Then my main entree was a bison bacon burger, and that was my first bison burger in a very long time. The burger tasted very good, and it was cooked right with just the right amount of bacon on it. Though the food here can be pricy, it's worth it when the food turns out to be great. Overall, my experience was great, and I will definitely make sure I come here sooner than my previous visits...
Read moreOverpriced and over rated.
Sadly the bar for steakhouses in Cheyenne isn’t very high and Wyoming’s Rib & Chop House is no exception. We went as a family with guests.
Pros: The fried green tomatoes (one of several appetizers ordered) were excellent and met/exceeded expectations for the price point. Kids meals come in an entertaining cardboard car that the kids got excited about. Cons: The torn and tattered menus was the first red flag. A restaurant at this price point should pay much better attention to detail and presentation. But, they don’t. This was our first visit here so we chose to overlook it and order anyway. Live and learn. Poor to mediocre service at best, Waited over 15 min after being seated before being greeted and drinks being ordered. Main course was served before sides. Adult meals were served while kids sat hungry watching and waiting. Sides were missing from both adult and kids meals. Poor quality steak. This was the worst part of the experience. My baseball sirloin was as tough as a baseball and a disgrace for the price point and ratings of this restaurant or any ‘steakhouse’ (This was no fault of the cook, who cooked it exactly as ordered, but a testament to the subpar quality of meats used by the restaurant itself). Over seasoned appetizers. Both the stuffed mushrooms and spinach dip were excessively salty.
Others in our party had various other main dishes, none of which they found very bad, nor any better than other and less expensive Cheyenne restaurants. A few in our party had the Crème brûlée for desert and were not really impressed. I didn’t try it because I was saving my appetite for the leftovers in the fridge at home, which were easily better than ‘most’ of the food here.
Conclusion: Over rated and overpriced (for both the service and quality) based on our experience. I’ve had much better steaks and service at every other place that serves steaks in Cheyenne (and that’s sadly not saying much). We won’t be returning on my dime and definitely will not recommend for someplace to...
