Got my wallet stolen in there and cctv footage was not disclosed
I went to Dollop this afternoon, spent about $24 got to know it was a good place to work. The food and drink were reasonably well. I was sipping coffee, engrossed in work. My back was to the counter and someone might have just taken my black Versace bi-fold wallet out while I was busy working because I had the wallet with me when I paid for the food. It was half hour into my time into the cafe that I received a fraudulent alert from my bank and before I could react it kept coming and kept I kept on restricting 1 card after another. I realized the back pocket of my backpack was open and my wallet was gone right there. I immediately requested them to show me the footage as it was taken right in the cafe and it is not a huge cafe but the server told me about a supremely complicated process of applying to see the cctv. I lost my wallet, my credit cards, debit cards and ID along with some cash. Please be aware when you are going in there and working. It is a cozy place but not safe as I got robbed right in there. Please take care of your belongings. I have made police reports of the theft and credit card frauds but it’s creepy to think that the person who kept trying to make $2000 transaction with my cards still has my license.
I would request the cafe people to check the footage at least for their and the customers’ sake who come and work there. They would know who to close their doors to for the safety of others.
In addition, the cafe people reached out to me and provided me with the cctv footage. Thanks Dollop Coffee Co for acting upon the request...
Read moreIf you're looking for a good cup of coffee in the Streeterville area, you'd be hard pressed (French pressed?) to find a better cup. This place has fairly fashionable tables and chairs, but it's comfortable, and the staff is chill and friendly. And as you would hope, they also make a great cup of coffee (thanks in part to their most excellent Metropolis beans).
In terms of food, I work nearby and come here once a week or so for lunch. I've tried the turkey sandwich, brie sandwich (which, when they call it out, sounds like a "Free sandwich"), and the veggie sandwich, and they've all been very tasty. Good bread, quality meats and veggies - gently toasted. You can walk to Jimmy John's (about three blocks away) and pay about the same amount for a sandwich that is half as good as what you'd have at Dollop.
Most seating is indoors, but they do have a couple of tables and chairs outside. Thought it's close to the street, it makes for a decent place to enjoy your food or beverage if it's a nice day out.
Also, the good wifi brings in lots of students (thanks to the law and medical schools in the area) - it makes for a good place to work...
Read moreThe main problem with Dollop on Ohio is the unsanitary environment. Here are three things I noticed today. 1)They have flies inside the pastry holder so that ruined my appetite. 2) The floor is very dirty-they should be mopping and making sure there is not excessive dust and salt on the ground- I also didn't see them clean a single table wile I was there. 3) The worst thing I saw though was a person asked for whip cream or something for her already have drank coffee and an employee took it and poured in to a steaming cup and steamed her drink and gave it back. The only way she cleaned the cup was with a little pressure wash and she didn't even clean the steamer. This was pretty gross and definitely a health code violation because who knows that potential diseases and germs that women may have. The barista could have infected the entire system with germs. That was disappointing to see.
In addition the espresso (latte) was not even good. If they made an amazing cup then some of the cleanliness problems could be looked over but that was not the case. so I will not be returning and I hope others...
