Update - I find it ridiculous that the Streeter does not acknowledge my review when they exactly know what I’m talking about, hence the pictures… Listen, I do not know why other people call it a luxury apartment. It is not. I rarely leave bad reviews, there’s bad days but this place has been absolutely treacherous since I moved in. The power outlets are not working. The kitchen and bathroom are super small, same as the closets. The elevators are a mess, sometimes you have to wait over 5 minutes to get in a crowded elevator. So many dogs that make it hard to even go into a small elevator. Have to wait another 10 minutes for the next one. The security/concierge are useless. They let everyone up. Management is a joke. Had to wait over a month for mailbox keys. I have two cars in the parking garage! The transponders do not work so you have to call in what takes another 10 minutes. When you get back it’s the same issue. The parking garage is open to the public so you have to drive up to the 8th to 10th floor to find a good spot. Unless you do not care about scratches. There is always some construction going on. I’m paying almost 4000 a month and I have a popcorn ceiling!!! The cheapest amenities, small whirlpool fridge. No ice no water. A top load washer and the worst whirlpool dishwasher I have ever used. Do not move in here this is a frat house!!! And old 80 plus residents, never seen something like this. Faulty power outlets that caused a fire to my balcony! I never even received an apology. There are several power outlets that spark or show a blue light if they are working. Half of the power outlets are not working. This should have been addressed during move in!!!! This is not a safe building!!! The smoke alarm and fire responders are not working! If you have any luxury items in this apartment I would get a separate place! I have lived here since September and I’m moving out to a better place. I’m paying 500 for my two cars in the parking garage and someone scratched my door on my 150,000 dollar car. There are no cameras in the garage only at the elevators. Homeless people sitting around, drug dealers trying to sell you drugs. This place is horrendous wish I could give 0 stars.

I had an incredible experience with The Streeter. From the management, maintenance, amenities, to the quality of the building and location, it is my all-time favorite place I have lived in Chicago. This year, I experienced an unexpected tragedy that caused me to have to move back to my hometown. During this unimaginable time, The Streeter team was beyond patient and understanding, enabling me to direct my energy towards the more important things without having to worry about the financial impact of ending my lease early. When I move back to Chicago one day, I will definitely hope to move back into The Streeter. They run business like real humans, and I am personally extremely grateful. This place will always mean the world to me, being the first home I got the privilege to share with my fiancé.

My husband lived at the Streeter for 9.5 years, myself for almost 3 years. We moved out recently due to a few things.

First off, it was a decent living atmosphere. With that being said, the package room was always full, and cluttered. Having packages in the room for more than a few days resulted in a few emails to pick up, while large boxes were in the room for weeks and never moved. It was always difficult to find packages as they were frequently placed in the incorrect location.

The “connivence” store has been temporarily closed for almost 6 months. It never was used and frankly is a wasted space to have, especially when it could be better utilized.

Maiteance was by far spectacular. We never had any issues with the timely manner for assistance and the quality of work.

As for the units, while they are updating the floors, and installed new window shades, nothing else such as the bathrooms, appliances, counter tops or other entities within the unit are updated. You can definitely get more bang for your buck with an updated apartment fully verses the cost of these units. While our rent went up a bit during the 9.5 years (following market rate) we were told by Jackie and Greg that we’d have to pay the cost as a bran new tenant if we moved out of our one bedroom into a two bedroom. This is ridiculous as we were long term tenants and paid our rent on time. At our new place we’re paying a bit more for a brand new apartment and two bed two bath than what we were paying for our unit at the Streeter. And it’s fully updated!!!!

They have cut corners and spent a egregious amount of money to “update” the entry, lounge area, and amenity bathrooms. The cost of all that could easily have been spent elsewhere (such as the grilling area.)

the front desk staff is a revolving door and is extremely rude (other than Regina!). They hardly checked to see if visitors were seeing someone in the building and from what I’ve seen, many folks just walked in. Also the person who did break in and set the fire sprinklers off a few months ago was a determining situation as to why we left.

The office staff is hardly no help. Many convos with them to assist with the continued dog barking on our floor, dogs not leaving the building to go out (stayed in the hallway) were never addresses. The dog issue in the building is problematic as there is never a time of day where dogs aren’t barking, which is disruptive to living. Either move the dogs to every other floor or address the consistent barking, and non cleanliness the dogs leave and track through the entire complex.

Lastly, at least one elevator is down each day, causing major backup when needing to go up and down. Frequently the Hottubs, the tvs in that area and the tvs in the gym area are not working. For what we paid, it truly is ridiculous to not have these little things able to be used. We did have a two holes in our doors that were caused by movers. We knew we’d have to pay for those doors, but $400 a piece is ridiculous as they are cheap doors and I know only cost $80 a piece at lowes. So make sure you don’t leave any holes in the apartment that are significant as it’ll be extremely costly upon move out.

Long story, I wouldn’t recommend living here. While the location is ideal, there are many other options within the...

I am coming up on my 4th year at The Streeter Apts. Unfortunately the front door in this building is a revolving door. As doorman and woman and leasing office employees do not stay for any real length of time. That is a sign of poor management. When I first moved in 4 years ago it was top notch. Even the floor in front of the elevator on my floor were always shining and pristine clean. Management now is less than par. Now, for the reason I am not renewing my lease in March 2022. I live in UNIT 212 at The Streeter Apartments and the pipe configuration in the kitchen is somehow linked with Dollop Coffee Cafe which is right below. The pipes need quartley rodding and the head engineer and management has dropped the ball with this one after many promises stated that "this will never happen again". After my kitchen sink back up for the 8th time ( no lie!) on January 14, 2022 and flooded my kitchen I said enough is enough! Im moving. Im sure they will rent this unit for a lot more money and NOT make the next resident aware of this on going problem. That is a horrible thing to do to someone. Its so unfair to put somebody through this aggravation and stress continuously. I ask upper management - Chris @The Village Green to at least pay for my move. I really wanted to stay in this bldg for 10 years. That was my initial plan. However they will not pay for my move. They offered me to move to another unit in the building. I asked are you going to pay for my move if I transfer to another unit? Chris (upper management ) said he will waive the transfer fee. To my knowledge there is no transfer fee and BIG DEAL! I need my move paid for as this is an unexpected expense! I have now retained a Landlord/Tenant attorney for this upheaval in my life that could have easily been resolved. My attorney assured me that in this case the tenant will win. I hung in there as long as I could. So I want anyone who may be viewing this unit 212 @ The Streeter Apartments, to be ware! I wish I would have known before I ever moved into unit 212 @ The Streeter Apartments. The Streeter did respond and what they wrote was absolutely not true! ...
