Flaco's Tacos — Restaurant in Chicago

Decided to stop in here last week, as we saw a lot of people going into this place.

It's a cozy location that is located in what appears to have once been a private residence.

The place is very casual, but the food is top quality. We were there around lunch time, and although it was crowded, the service was very fast.

We opted for one each of the fish, steak, pollo (chicken) and al pastor tacos. All of these were delicious.

We happened to go on a Tuesday when their special is Taco Tuesday. You can get a taco for $1 and Lagunitas IPA for $4 on Tuesdays.

The day that we were there, the special Taco was a ground beef taco, and it was a best-seller. It is my understanding that the flavor of the taco in the Tuesday special does change from week to week, so check out the little sign on the counter when you get there.

When we go back again I'm going to get the combo which is two tacos, Mexican rice and refried beans for 7.95 or a burrito combo with Mexican rice and refried beans for 8.95. Keep in mind that there is an additional charge for steak, fish, taco of the week or the cowboy flavors.

They also do catering and I have added pictures of their catering menu, so if you need to order something for the office or for a party, I would not hesitate to use...

I had come to Flacos Taco 3 years ago and I tried it again now (Apr 2019). I am very happy with the consistency. They are just as good today as they were 3 years back. Now, these are not the best tacos. However, they are pretty good tacos for Chicago. I tried Chicken and Pork. I would recommend the Pork because it's marinate was very tasty. The chicken felt very hard and dry, so I would not recommend the Chicken Tacos. I was pleasantly surprised by the quantity of meat they packed in each taco. I got 3 but would have been happily full with 2. This place really deserves 4 stars. However, it gets 3 for reasons below- What I disliked about the place was the service. They seemed to have a general attitude that rubbed me the wrong way. At one point, the person who took our order came demanding a dollar because he said he hadnt charged us for something. This was when we were in the middle of eating the food. So, he thought it was a good idea to rudely approach a customer asking for a $1 bill while they are eating their food because of a mistake that he made. Under normal circumstances, I would immediately drop my rating to 2 for poor service like that, but I am bumping it up to 3 because I was otherwise happy with food and I found the location to...

Ordered from there on a Sunday. First, the food. Lots of flavor in the tacos. I had the Al Pastor and my wife had the steak. Al Pastor was very good, and the steak was super flavorful. The only knock, which I think is more personal preference based on how taquieras in my city do their tacos is that the steak could have been chopped a little finer and the meat had quite a few chewy bits in there. Could just be whatever cut of meat they use. Either way it was good. The horchata was some of the best I've had. A little heavier than Im used to but man was it good. I just wish we had to option of ordering more than a 12 oz serving for almost $4.00. My main reason for giving 3 stars is because our order was night right. I was missing a whole steak taco combo and my elote. I was able to call back and ask for a refund. The guy I spoke to was very nice and apologized, and said that we should have a refund for the missing items in a few days Don't let my missing items steer you away.
