Yesterday we had a bad experience here by their staff: specifically, the male bartender. Started going to Monks pub last August and he and the female bartender got to know me and my friend. Yesterday my friend stepped out to have a cigarette only to be followed back inside by a person asking him for money. The bartenders (both the female and male) asked him to leave and eventually he called the cops but the guy wasn’t moving. My friend reached in his pocket and gave him $2 only to then be yelled at by the male bartender. My friend and I were terrified as this guy is behind us and didn’t know if he was armed or not. Instead of protecting us he basically went on to pouring drinks. I immediately asked for the check because I was frightened and didn’t want to be in there as the bar tenders are yelling with this guy. After we paid and we’re heading to the door to leave ,the male bartender proceed to yell to my friend, clear across the bar saying ... you ever give someone money, don’t ever step back in here. Instead of protecting us, this horrible person of a bar tender felt the need to humiliate his customers in front of the entire bar. I told the female bartender he has no right to say this and no basis to be yelling at us. What is ironic is that my friend’s $2 is what got the guy to leave the premises and not the bar tenders’ threat of calling the police. So it was interesting that he felt compelled to punish and humiliate us. Very unfortunate as I will never step foot in this place and I will make sure I tell people not go to this pub because of the potential harassment they could face by this unprofessional bar tenders. Buyer beware!

Great atmosphere and food is good, though a bit pricey. They do have a good beer selection but I am not a beer drinker so I can't comment on that. I got the chili with cheese and sour cream, along with the Bison Burger with fries. The chili is absolutely phenomenal, I would come back here just for that. Highly recommended. It was a bit spicy but not overwhelmingly so. The burger is a bit on the pricier side but it is a half-pound plus it comes with a side, so it's not too bad all things considered. Maybe it was just the Bison burger I got but I thought the taste was just okay. I think you're paying more for the size of the burger than anything else. The fries were nice and crispy, but nothing to particularly write home about. Honestly, I thought the chili was better. Overall, place is great and it's a fantastic option if you're ever in the Loop, and we all know the Loop is sorely lacking in terms of food options. I would come back here again for more chili and to try a different burger.

This was one of the best pubs I have ever visited! Our server had one eye on us at all times, never had to ask for anything he already brought it - he was an expert tender! The food was absolutely delicious it came fresh. Off The grill was made from quality products and served immediately, actually so hot I had to wait a second before digging in. The place was decorated really cool with lots of different lights and signs and things to look at. They had booths, tables with chairs, and a bar, so you could sit anywhere you really felt comfortable. Overall, outstanding service and excellent food. Very highly recommended!

We regularly have our company happy hours here, so one of our teams had a short lunch and assumed to expect a seamless checkout. A simple $100 tab split 4 ways, you'd assume no problems. After taking our tab our server came back and alerted us that there was a problem with their machines. Their credit card processing company had done a reboot and we would need to pay with cash (as she put it 'there is an ATM outside to grab some cash.')

Initially, I thought it was inconvenient, but wanted to leave...then realized there are fees associated with pulling out cash from a non-bank ATM (3.75). 3.75x4=$15. So 15% of our bill would be spent on non-bank ATM fees. Unacceptable. So, I got up and looked for a manager.

I found a gentleman with a lovely (Irish?) accent, who asked why I wanted to speak to a manager. I told him that I felt that it was wrong to ask us to cover additional costs, as the issue was on them. With that, he told me that it was a City of Chicago ordinance and that I would have to call my bank and request a refund explaining that. I could barely take him seriously and I walked away.

We pulled out our cash from the antiquated ATM. Our server returned and when I questioned her about the gentleman's NEW answer, she responded that he was crazy

The worse service I have ever received in Chicago in 15 years. We came 10 minutes before the kitchen closed and we were aware to order right away food and drinks and we did. The server greeted us with “ oh you must be one of those”. I laughed thinking Dash H was joking. He was serious. While 3 of us were already done eating and drinking in 20minutes and one was finishing up, Dash came and put the receipt down. We gave $0 tip. Dash picked up the check and came back screaming at us saying he was really nice to us. I explained I work in customer service and this is not how you treat customers. He said “this is bullshit and I am going to rush you even more and take the plate from you”. Dash then told the manager who came and give us the middle finger. Again, in 15 years, I have never experienced such a disservice.

Dash if you read this review, just know this: I worked as a server, I now work in customer service, I encounter and talk to people every day. I know how you might feel when customers walk in 10 minutes before the kitchen closes. This does not allow you to treat customers like garbage. Don’t ever disrespect customers telling them “you must be one of those”, even if that s what ran into your mind at the moment.

Next time, be...
