I had an amazing experience at Rivers Restaurant! The food was delicious and the service was top-notch. I highly recommend the burger and the salmon entree. The beet and arugula salad was also tasty, but didn't look too appetizing. The restaurant has a beautiful waterfront location overlooking the Chicago River. The staff was attentive and friendly, especially JEFF and Stephanie who made my dining experience a 5-star one. I also enjoyed the selection of craft beers and other liquors. The Cucumber Basil Lemonade was a refreshing drink that I highly recommend. The appetizers were all excellent, especially the crab cakes, calamari, guacamole tower, and the Shrimp Bruschetta. For the main entree, I had the Shrimp Risotto which was very good, and I also had a taste of the Chilean Sea Bass which was a true winner. Lastly, the Sweet Potato Bread Pudding was a perfect ending to a great meal. Thank you, Rivers Restaurant, for a wonderful...

Quality ingredients. Professional and detailed preparation. Nice atmosphere. The issue I have here is the value.

Sat down for lunch with a group. We ordered appetizers, entrees, coffee and desserts I ordered the crab cakes plate, $29. Asked for a vegetable to replace the potatoes. Server said no problem. What I received was a plate served with two (approximately 2-3oz) crab cakes, 2 sprigs of broccolini, and a 70% empty plate drizzled with sauce to make it look like it had food on it. I was still quite hungry after my entree and eating up the appetizers. If the server had asked how the food was I would have asked for more vegetables but he didn't come after the plate was dropped. He never asked, how was the food. I think for a $29 lunch + appetizers, one should be satisfied with that meal. I weigh 165lbs so I'm not a giant nor a glutton. My lunch was lacking.

Good food, tiny portions,...

A client recently took our IT staff out to Rivers and I have to say I'm not sure how I didn't know about it before. A quick 3 minute walk from our office brings about one of the perfect business lunch spots in the area and one that I know I will definitely be at again.

It's located in the Chicago Mercantile Exchange in the West Loop near Union Station. With a great view over the river and service that was quick to take care of our orders and as many refills as we wanted it was a good experience.

I highly recommend the Ribeye Sandwich whose horseradish sauce isn't too overpowering and gives you just the right flavor to pair with the sandwich itself.

I wouldn't have this on my list of places to take a date but for a casual or business lunch or dinner it's a great meal at a price that won't...

I’ve attended Rivers Restaurant numerous times for sorority events but this visit was for a ‘Thank You’ dinner on Aug 23rd. I’ve had their finger foods/appetizers but this was the first time I had dinner. It was a wonderful experience. I started with the Cucumber Basil Lemonade (TRY IT)...very cool, refreshing drink. We ordered a variety of appetizers so I can recommend the crab cakes, calamari, the guacamole tower and THE SHRIMP BRUSCHETTA! All excellent choices. My main entree was the Shrimp Risotto. Very good. I had a taste of the Chilean Sea Bass (a true winner)! My dessert was the Sweet Potato Bread Pudding. Another winner! All in all, great conversation, great food!

The host and wait staff were amazing. But the food was not good. The Scottish salmon was overcooked. That dish was the special that evening, and you would think it would be cooked to perfection. It simply wasn't. And the jambalaya was so heavily spiced with black pepper that it was the only thing I could taste in the dish. It left a terrible aftertaste in my mouth for hours. The only good food items we had were the appetizer salads. This restaurant is a miss, and a huge disappointment.

Had my wedding cocktail hour here and people talked more about the coconut shrimp than any other food item of the night!! Dan was a pleasure to work with as well as Kelley and the rest of the team. When the weather was colder than expected, they opened up the indoor seating so we could roam and stay warm. Without even being asked! Highly recommend in general and extra for an event!
