I guess I fell into the gimmick as well. When I saw “top 50 pizzas 2025” and Roberts was number 6 i knew I had to indulge while in town.
Ambience and location is nice. Good outside patio on the river. With the weather being nice it was the perfect day for some good food outside.
Unfortunately aside from the nice weather nothing else about this visit was good. The service was extremely inattentive to us and pretty much forgot about our table most of the visit. We placed our order before other tables who also ordered pizza and they received their pizza and cashed out before we even got our pizza.
More than once we had to ask for things to be cleared from the table (empty cans, dirty dishes). We watched multiple food /drink runners go from table to table asking did you order this, did you order that. Idk if the server didn’t know how to document tables properly or if all the paraffin are extremely untrained on their jobs and service.
I have to say out of 30 places from fast casual to upscale I visited this week Roberts had the worse service out of everyone.
Then comes the food. Because #6 pizza in the USA!!!!! Ha what a joke. At least once we finally got it. The “a walk in the woods” sounded absolutely stunning so it was a must. Yet somehow they managed to eliminate any flavor from the pizza. It literally tasted like plain cheese and mushrooms. I’ve sadly gotten more flavor from corporate grab and go pizza spots. Not to mention the fact that it was floppy, and missing that “crust” on the under carriage.
The carne was the second pizza which had a much better bottom crunch but even that one needed some salt. You would think with the salty meats it would be ok but again they manage to eliminate flavor vs add flavor.
I’m not sure what pizza won the #6 spot but it couldn’t have been these. Maybe it was the margarita or something else because these missed the mark completely. We did end up eating the carne because we had already waited an hour with 2 kids so they needed to eat something, but we couldn’t even force down the mushroom pie.
The buratta was overall probably the best item we had. Could have used maybe another piece of bread but as far as flavor it was much easier to take down than the pizzas.
The server came by after a while and stated the kitchen was behind which was fine but then the chef/owner is out on the patio taking Christmas in July pictures. I guess the issues start from the top. If your team is weeded at least be in expo or somewhere boh not outside taking promotional photos RIGHT IM FRONT OF A TABLE HAVING A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.
I mean seriously do people just accept this kind of...
Read moreI made reservations for brunch at this spot and was pretty excited at the prospect of some yummy food AND bottomless mimosas and was profoundly disappointed when I found there was not one slightly vegan option on the brunch menu... Location is amazing... you can dine lake front or indoor with floor to ceiling windows that open giving you a fresh breeze.
Bottomless mimosas are $25 a person with purchase of an entree... and you have 90 minutes to drink to your heart's content. The waiter was great about replacing our beverages as soon as they were looming close to empty. He joking told me and my party that we had broken the record for most mimosas consumed.... I really hope he wasn't joking. We're from LA and we take brunch pretty seriously... This is a feat to be proud of.
The two other people in my party gushed over the food. They had Eggs Benedict and a Huevos Rancheros Pizza. Honestly, it looked good... and if they were writing this review, it most certainly would have been a Five Star review but, this is not the case. I had previously peered at the menu and had seen a vegan pizza on the menu however, it is not available until lunch... and I had brunch reservations. Luckily, the waiter provided a sliced baguette accompanied with olive oil to munch on while my party raved about their great food selections. I really do have to thank the waiter because I was seriously hungry... I'm still bitter about the lack of food. I was in town for the weekend and ate bread...
I truly cannot say enough good things about the waiters at this place. We had a Spanish-speaking gentleman tending to us and he was excellent. I really wish I remembered his name.. just all around friendly, courteous, etc. Hospitality...
Read moreI have been wanting to try Robert's Pizza for a few years. Got drinks there once sitting by their perfect location on the Ogden Slip, but today was my day.
So my cousin and I headed there. A bit rainy today and a little chilly, but we opted to sit by the open sliding windows.
I called the manager over to find out what the crust was made of due to my serious food allergies. Last restaurant I went to was Saturday in Streeterville & theirs had SOY FLOUR. What? My Italian Grandmothers are both spinning in their graves. (I left without ordering.)
The manager was kind and double-checked and the reassured me it's only wheat flour. Perfecto!
Our waitress was Katie. Very sweet as was another blonde gal there who talked about how much she loves working at Robert's (nice to hear.)
We ordered the Lia covered with black olives. (My next time I want the one with prosciutto and arugula...that sounds delish.)
It took about 35 minutes or so to get our pizza. It looked incredible. We dove in. (Hence the lack of photos showing an entire pizza...lol)
My cousin has been to Italy and her comment was it reminded her of the pizza in Italy. My comment was Holy Sh$#, this is amazing!! (Hope no one heard me.)
I admit my fav pizza is Spacca Napoli, but I have to say that this very closely rivals Spacca.
The crust is the perfect combo of soft, chewy, and a little bit of crisp. The sauce delicious.
Robert truly perfected this crust.
I did download their app. It's very glitchy. I still suggest you download it. I saw my points posted already.
The pizza, location, excellent service, and nice atmosphere makes this a 5-star place. Perfect spot for a date.
Thank you,...
