To whom this may concern,
On Thursday October 26th approximately 12:13 pm, I went to the local Starbucks located closet to my office (3108 S. Halsted St.). I went through the drive through as I normally do. I was met with a very dissatisfying employee (Bonnie) who simply said “what can I get you”. As I was placing my order, after every item she would say “is that all”. I mention this to highlight the fact that she was extremely unpleasant from the beginning. There was no line and I was able to pull right up to the window. Once at the window, the unpleasant demeanor of Bonnie continued. She did not speak AT ALL, not a simple “hello” or “good afternoon”. As she gathered my 3 hot tea’s and placed them in the cup holder, she didn’t bother to add stoppers. I asked her it they had any stoppers and her response was “yeah, give me a moment”. She closed the window and I watched her place stoppers in my 3 hot teas. She then passed them to me, and then passed me my order of cake pops. I asked for napkins and again without out speaking or responding she closed the window grabbed exactly 3 napkins set them on the counter, and wiped them across the counter as if say was wiping something up. Shocked is an understatement. As I planned to request new napkins as she came to the windows with my last item from my order, my egg bites. Shocked once again, this time I actually froze for a moment because I literally couldn’t believe it. They placed the order of egg bites in a bag with no tray, not even an oatmeal bowl, they literally tossed the egg bites is a bag. Before I could get out “excuse me”, the window was shut once again. I called out excuse my twice with no acknowledgment. I then honked my horn for assistance. I asked Bonnie where was the tray and why were the egg bites just tossed in the bag. She said and I quote “oh it’s not a tray? I’ll ask, but don’t honk at me” as she basically snatched the bites out of my hand as I extended them back out towards the window. And once again, shut the window. When she came back I immediately requested to speak to the manager (Monica). To my surprise, Monica (manager) came to the window and said “you want a refund for the egg bites”. She also did not speak (which I was stunned by this but it makes since why the employees would think is okay). She did not ask what happened or even inquire. I explained to her the yes I would like a refund but more so the employee (Bonnie’s) poor and extremely disrespectful attitude is the biggest issue. I asked if the employee was having a bad day, Monica’s response and I quote “no she’s not, we’re just kinda of busy right now”. This incident occurred at 12:13 pm with an empty drive thru line, it was in no way shape or form busy. And “busy” does not justify a disrespectful attitude and poor management response. Only after mentioning leaving a review did Monica at least respond with “Ill talk to her”. I’ll be definitely be bringing this up at our town meeting. Large corporations are responsible for delivering a better level of service. This was totally unacceptable from the start. Policies and procedures are in place to protect the public correct? Example: if I didn’t ask for stoppers and the hot tea burned me (because the top wasn’t on all the way), that’s a liability. If felt the response from both the employee and manager were racially motivated that’s another liability. I’m very disappointed in the event that occurred today, and will continue to express my...
Read moreNot going in there again....I'll say that much. I am in their after class or work on various nights of the week....however I mostly go to the one on 35th. This location is.just a go.between for me, really, when I need a rest from walking. I do order about half the time. Other times I do my work and get a water. I'm not a big spender, unfortunately. But I do when I can.
I use the washroom there... especially when it's dreary or cruddy out. It takes a bit to get back to my car or the train I'm taking. Today, the guy behind the counter was just flat out rude to me because all I got was a water and then used the bathroom while waiting for a few emails. I had to go a certain.....ahem..... number. So I took about 7 to 9 minutes. There is a stall and a urinal, and people come in freely despite having two restrooms and a coded lock. I usually don't mind, however today I had.....ahem...issues.
The gentleman who waited on me came in the washroom as I was getting ready to leave the stall and chastised me for taking too long. Didn't feel the need to tell him why. He was upset because I was in there over 5 minutes, and walked me out of the restroom. And was VERY rude about it. He's also very rude to everyone else there as well, so I'm nothing special. He seemed to imply that I was too asking to long and other people were waiting ....yet I waited 10.minutes to use it prior, without being a jerk, I might add.
Bottom line....don't hassle people. Your job isn't that important that you need to make up something to chas people out. Water or coffee, people should be treated the same. I'm sure the establishment isn't losing out. However, I definitely won't spend any money at that location, regardless if I have a greater income once I graduate. I'm gonna call...
Read moreStarbucks has gotten way worse and this location is a great example. This place has no problem keeping you waiting especially if you’re a walk in (15 to 30 min) Order ahead on the Starbucks app? Sure it’s turned off for this location half the week for no reason. Better yet, they often close the cafe in the middle of the day to only serve drive thru and will NEVER will give you a refund or coupon for your botched order. One time they had a sign closing the cafe because of short staff, ok well if you paid people more maybe you can keep your business staffed to serve customers, I think they can swing it. No one cares about the people who patron the place it’s all a corporate money grab and anyone who visits me in my neighborhood hates going here. OH and let’s talk about straws!! You have to stand there and stare at employees while they ignore you so you can ask them for a straw for the 9 dollar drink you just paid for. Why even have straws if your policy is to refuse to offer them in the first place. One or two things isn’t a big deal but all of these annoying things put together on a weekly basis is an awful customer experience. I’m going to spend money at my local coffee shops 9/10 times or dunkies, it’s cheaper and...
