My family and I came to Z Bar for celebratory cocktails for my father’s birthday. Never in my life have I had such terrible service displayed to my family. The waitress that was supposed to wait on us walked past us a couple of times within that 20 minute waiting period, just for drinks, and and not once offered to take our order. When I approached her who was supposed to tend to us, she angrily said, “I AM”, whilst pointing aggressively to her chest. She looked incredibly annoyed that I approached her. When I asked her when she would take our order, she annoyingly said, in a moment, visibly upset. When I told her we request a new server because we would not accept such a rude server, she said OK and LAUGHED at our face as she walked away. Train your staff better, Z Bar. This is completely unacceptable. I get that staff was low, but never ever have your staff belittle and demean your patrons in such a manner. It was an older lady, blonde hair, Caucasian, with glasses whom I unfortunately couldn’t get her name to identify this very rude staff member. This happened on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at 11PM.
Edit, from what I read on previous reviews, this establishment has been accused of...
Read moreMy experience began in awe with the inspiring view of river east early afternoon and water tower place. The atmosphere gives a chic and cozy feel to the more metropolitan style drinks. What really sets this bar apart from others is its attention to detail and flirtation of flourishes. The pinache added to each pinch of mint and pour of premium alcohol.
The staff are more than accommodating with quite the popular and active serving floor. The biggest challenge is the personality and uniqueness of the engagements however, this company still makes a strong priority to make each person feel welcomed. Tim in Particular was my server and his charm was out of this world. I was surprised at how well he was able to cater to his other guests with as much attention I received.
The drinks are designed with the fun at heart in mind. Though the scale is of a higher class of drinks, there is still some down and dirty selections that add splashes of color with each sip of high grade booze. The host Vlad seemed to have a sense of pride when asked about his drink selections as if it were his most accomplished children.
Overall, it would be a shame to miss this beautiful and flavorful escape after the...
Read moreI tried 6 of them in a week. Came here to enjoy a glorious Chicago summer day and the air show.
You access this bar on the 7th floor by entering the luxurious Peninsula Hotel. I been to the one in NYC. This one is way more extravagant and posh. Or as my friends A and K keep saying, so boogie.

I really can't remember what we ordered. For $18, my summery drink was disappointing. I can make much fresher and tastier one at home. It's really not too difficult to make a refreshing drink. Buy Harmless Thai coconut, fresh watermelon, black grapes, mint leaves, lemon, pomegranate etc from Whole Foods. If you mix freshly squeezed lemon with fresh green mint leaves and add a touch of sugar, I guarantee happy freshness.
My suggestion for improvement is to focus on improving the quality of cocktails and flavors. Consider adding my simple recipe above.
I would definitely come back for the atmosphere hoping to taste a...
