The Handle Bar — Restaurant in Chico

Food was nice took over an hour and a half to get food. The major problem was our waitress, Michaela. Michaela was our waitress and she was drinking (visually saw her drinking), and what seemed heavily, to the point everytime she came by she was spilling our drinks, messed up every aspect of our orders, messed up the checks multiple times to the point we gave up, and was completely unaware to forgetting a card (3 separate checks 3 separate cards). There where multiple times she would be completely missing from what seemed the whole restaurant for 30-45 minute periods. First thoughts where maybe a new employee, until we realized this was our 2nd encounter with Michaela at The Handle Bar. The first encounter was about 2-3 months ago, and extremely similar experiences that when we left we where pretty sure she was drunk that night. Today confirmed yes, she was probably drunk as well that original night.

Foods okay, the staff IS NICE, but not worth the continuous bad service from clueless employees, I can't imagine she's been THIS BAD for the only two times I've been in there, even the cook yelled at her for being clueless...

I went last Friday with my girlfriend just to have a few drinks and get something to eat and our experience was quite unique to say the least, food and drinks were pretty good and had no problem there. Took a while for them to arrive but that wasn’t the fault of the wait staff (aside from our server) our server in particular was the problem our whole visit. Her name is was either Nicole or Michelle or something like that, an older white lady with brown hair. It was just far too busy for her to keep up and it wasn’t super packed like some places in Chico could get. Took forever for her to even introduce herself and get us some water, everything took way longer than it should have. Order an appetizer before or entree and she forgot to either place the order or never went a got it before our entree arrived. We also saw 2 other tables she was serving that had problems, one had to physically get up and come get her and then leave shortly after and another try and get her attention to no avail and just ended up putting cash down for the 1 set of drinks they got and leave. It was a mess to say the least. Good drinks...

Went there for lunch yesterday because they had a new item on the menu. A meatless impossible burger. It wasn't printed on the menu so when I asked, the waitress pointed to their plain burger and said it comes with these fixings on the burger. My friend and I both ordered it, and it was quit tasty. However when we received the check we were charged $20.00 for the two burgers and $10.00 for the two meatless burgers. I feel I was charged $10.00 for a bun, three small pieces of onions, two small slices of tomatoes and a leaf of lettuce and $5.00 for the burger. My friend said if she knew we were going to be charged for the meat patties also she would have asked for them on the side to feed to her dogs. My point being, if we were told that the burger was going to be $15.00 instead of $10.00 we probably would have still ordered it. I feel being charged $32.18 for two burgers and two glasses of ice water was a bit much. I understand that they have to make money, but the way the whole not telling of the extra charge thing has left a bad taste in my mouth and I won't eat...
