I have a large family, including 4 children (2 little ones & 2 teens) so I figured Bj's might be worth the trip. We live almost an hour away, so overall I'd say it had its pros & cons, but not a store I'd say is really worth revisiting too often. If you want to buy bulk, they do have larger sized items & multi packs of products that you may use already, such as pasta & sauce, all purpose baking mix, snack items like pudding cups, crackers, chips, granola bars, beverages such as sports drinks (Gatorade, Powerade) or other common foods (canned veggies, soup both canned & Ramen, cooking oil, flour, sugar, maple syrup, cereal, etc...) They also offer many of the same departments of smaller stores, such as produce, deli/meats, frozen foods, bakery, boxed & canned goods. You can also find several non food items such as toothpaste, shampoo, paper products, baby care, trash bags, dish liquid & laundry detergents. The prices are what really surprised me. While some ranged from decent to fairly good, many others were just fair, or even less expensive elsewhere. For example, prices of ground beef are cheaper at Walmart. Same with pasta sauce. Bj's carries brands like Ragu or Bertolli, but these can be found at stores like Aldi or Walmart for less. If you're on a tight budget, I'd suggest buying many items on your list elsewhere to save money or food benefits. However, if you are picky & must have name brands, such as Eggo waffles or Kraft Mac & cheese, this is a good option. If you're like me & prefer buying many items store brand/generic, you'll probably be disappointed with Bj's limited selection. They do carry a cheaper brand Wellsley farms, but again very limited variety & still cost less elsewhere for similar brands. Bakery items were rather expensive & the quality was honestly disappointing! My 7 year old picked out beautifully designed cupcakes that were extremely sweet & had awful tasting frosting with the texture of paste & were very dry. At $12.99 for a package of 12, these were definitely a total waste of money. Walmart or Price Chopper is cheaper & better tasting! The prices were definitely comparable. All registers whether self checkout or regular were extremely slow & you can expect a ridiculously long wait, as many shoppers have huge carts full. Bj's may be wholesale, but discount they are not! I did like that they had a Dunkin inside. I feel this store is aimed at middle to upper class families, more so than those trying their hardest to stretch a buck on their monthly or weekly grocery bill. They accept EBT, but those receiving SNAP would be much better off at other stores such as Aldi for a big shopping list. If I had a Bj's that was in town or a shorter drive, I may check it out every once in awhile....but they simply didn't have the value to make it worth the 45 min trip. I'd rate it a 5 on a 1-10 scale.

I love this place... ... everything except customer service. Sometimes you deal with a person who is both friendly and helpful, other times deal with cranky people that have attitudes and are on power trips. I truly appreciate the cleanliness of the store and the prices are great. Many times prices are lower priced than their biggest area warehouse competitor (over in WSPFLD) The meats are an absolutely wonderful quality with awesome prices. Both the deli prices and quality can't be beat either. I'm able to get a top quality lower sodium meat and cheese, at prices well below typical grocery stores. And on yesterday's trip in particular, I saw the cutest little passenger.

Fresh and good quality in all the food, house items, appliances & more... They have Carriage accessible for elderly people and even for pregnant women to make the shopping easier.

My father is 82, and I mean he's a legit old man. We all know BJ's can be crazy and busy, and those lines, OMG! Anyway, I drove him to do his shopping. I ran a few errands to meet back up with him and found him in line, extremely upset. Two women had cut in front of him. The first woman acknowledged that she had done this, but argued that since she had fewer groceries, she was entitled to jump the line. The second woman with an average BJ's cart full said, "Well, we came in the same car, so we need to go together." When I walked in, my father was with a manager, still in line with the two women, telling them to go to the end of the very long line. When I walked up, the manager, who now had a second with him, said, "He'd have to check the video, and wasn't going to do anything about it at that time." My father was reasonably upset; his old butt had waited 15 minutes already in that checkout line. He blew his top... and started raising his voice. I tried to diffuse the situation and wait in line for him, but was told.. "You're not a BJ member, so you cannot be in his place." However, it was the same situation with the two women; the one with the FULL CART was not a BJ's member. They told me that my father had to wait or leave. Now he had a triple bypass a year and a half ago. I didn't want to make him get more upset. I got him out and brought him home. Well, he did follow up on a call the next day, asking if they had reviewed the footage yet, and everyone he spoke to denied any incident or reason to review the footage. Those women should have had their membership stripped. I took my father to BJ's 2x a month since he retired 17 years ago. We have never had any trouble. He enjoys going there and considers it a form of exercise. Needless to say, we have not renewed his membership. You let an old man get bullied and mistreated; that is disgusting. I suggest that if you have elderly parents, consider shopping elsewhere or escorting them to BJ's in Chicopee. They are not safe in...

Experienced the worst customer service attempting to complete an instacart order. To start my cashier was extremely rude and clearly needed a break. Upon setting my items down on the belt and waiting while she stared at the register not saying anything I became confuse. I asked if she was ready for me and my 2 items and she told me she didn’t know… if she dont know then hire someone who does or maybe a proper manager who can communicate better. After dealing with a ruder cashier I took my chances and self checked out but I still needed the receipt from the first batch in my instacart order. It’s clear the register or there system was done because instacart allowed me to continue all steps and that can not happen without the prior steps being completed. Meaning that when the cashier couldn’t apparently ring me out somehow she did and when I arrived at the self check out I was on to my next step. I attempted to retrieve the receipt but was met with the cashier screaming for a manager who told me I didn’t pay and would have to return things. Where was this manger the entire time!!!!!!!!! My items were removed I had to call instacart explaining what happened and this is after running through the store already. It’s holiday season we all working hard and tired if your staff can’t hack it find better and if your systems are messed up find better solutions alternatives. I should have had to lose my time money effort and customer service because someone was on their feet all day mad. Be...
