Oyishi Sushi — Restaurant in Chino

Cheap looking Japanese restaurant. Great service and fish is fresh. BUT! It's not an authentic Japanese sushi house. It's more of a fusion restaurant. The rice is cheap grade. No taste and NOT authentic Japanese sushi rice. The ramen is more like any mediocore Chinese noodle soup, with roughly chopped carrots, non-pickled bamboo shoots, and cabbages in the soup base. We had terriyaki chicken rice and chicken ramen, but the chicken in both dishes was flavorless and dry. The salad dressing on the dinner box tasted bland and the dressing is just like any cheap sesame miso dressing in a bottle bought from a local Asian market. Overall experience, this place is for people look for quick bites but not caring if it's truly authentic Japanese food or not. In Chino Hills, you can only go to Ojiya, regarldess of the crowd and long wait time during dinner hours, nowhere else. The rest of the Japanese restaurants in the area serve only either Chinese fusion or Korean fusion...

WOW! Incredibly fresh sushi in chino! Oyishi just opened and the quality is unbeatable. We were greeted with steaming hot edamame and tempura when we sat down. The A5 wagyu appetizer was a highlight! However, they really shine in the sushi department. But if you don’t like raw food, there’s a cooked menu as well with chicken teriyaki! We got the sashimi platter B and the omakase set. Everything was absolutely delicious. The chef told us that he recently transitioned his business from catering only to a brick and mortar restaurant. They’re in their soft open at the moment! Sushi is my top favorite food and if you want true Japanese style sushi made with high quality fish by experienced sushi chef this is the place to go. This is a hidden gem and you can always find something new or special from the chef that you can’t normally get. The $55 omakase is always an excellent choice. I have grown to trust the chef recommendation base on my taste and he always come thru with that task. I have tried quite a few items that was new to me along with fish prepared at a higher flavor level. Highly recommend if your looking for quality over your AYCE...
