Just found another Shabu spot that I am obsessed with, but why oh why it has to be so far from me????!!!! I am located from Garden Grove, and I swear, there's no BOMB Shabu here. Decent, ya, but to add to my favorites, NONE. Shabu Wara, please open another location near me, so I don't have to drive so far.
This hidden gem, is located in Golden Palms Plaza in Chino. It seems like the area is very quiet but they do get busy! They are only open for dinner so try to go when they first open
I love non ayce shabu, because, you know the quality of their food is worth it.
I ate with my foodie friend who enjoys trying new spots and is always down to drive far.
When entering, the place is nice and clean. There's two style seating... you can sit at the high bar or sit at the table where you can sit better in a group of 4. I prefer to sit at the table of 4 where there's more space for all the food you may be ordering.
What we ate: Proteins: Premium Beef Toro | My usual pick. Not too pricey and its damn delicious. can't go wrong with beef Toro American Wagyu Zabuton | First time trying and wow! I would so get this again. That buttery flavor that melts in your mouth.
Broths: *Spicy Miso Tonkotsu | first time here and I definitely picked a good one to try. I enjoyed it a lot. It has a kick to it but nothing too spicy. Tonkotsu | Pork Broth, my friend got this and she said while it's good, she enjoyed my broth better. So I highly recommend getting the spicy miso Tonkotsu. Note to self: try the Sukiyaki next. I wonder if I can mix it with another broth too!? lol
Carbs: *White Rice | My friend got the rice. Shabu is always good with rice. As for me, I couldn't eat it due to lent. I gave it up for lent and I failed 3x so far haha *Ramen | My friend prefers Ramen over Udon. I am the opposite. Udon | My carb for the night. By the time I got to this, I was extremely full. but I ate it like a champ.
add on orders: Sashimi Grade Salmon | HUGE piece of fish and delicious in shabu Fish Ball with Masago | I love LOVE when they have this on the menu. One of my favorite add-ons Egg
Shabu comes with a good amount of vegetables. I could always eat more though. I love vegetables. Please note: in your vegetable bowl, it also comes with a small amount of udon and clear noodles.
Drinks: They are now serving Boba drinks. So try it out!
Appetizers: They offer a lot but definitely didn't have the stomach for it.
I'll be...

You can either dine here with a group and share a split hot pot with two different types of soup or sit at the bar for your own individual style hot pot!
The menu is fairly simple to navigate.
All hot pots include a bowl of cabbage, enoki mushrooms, tofu, Japanese pumpkins, broccoli, and udon noodles.
You can also select your broth flavor(s). I chose tomato (my absolute favorite) and my sister and friend chose spicy miso.
I couldn't eat spicy, otherwise, I would have chosen the spicy miso tonkotsu flavor (local favorite.)
Lastly, you choose your protein to go with either your ramen noodles or rice!
They offer healthy options for noodles too, such as the spinach ramen!
It's a beautiful green color and it tastes amazing when boiled in the soup!
We shared our favorite proteins and seafood, like the thinly sliced wagyu beef and certified angus wagyu ribeye!
The wagyu beef is beautifully marbled and when cooked in the soup, it melts in your mouth like butter! DELICIOUS!
The angus ribeye is top notch quality as well!
Wonderfully presented and very tender and juicy once cooked!
The seafood is remarkable!
The fresh salmon and shrimp soaked up the tomato soup and gave it a bursting amount of flavor on my taste palette!
I can not deny the fact that I finished my tomato broth before I left!
It reminded me of my childhood when growing up! It tastes exactly like sopa! Delicious!
Not to forget the wonderful staff for their friendly and attentive service!
Definitely one to add on to your "Hot Pot/Shabu Shabu" collections on Yelp!
Most definitely give this place a go and try out different high quality meats and wonderful variations of...
Read moreShabu Wara is hands down, the BEST Japanese shabu shabu option in the Chino Hills area. We've been a couple times now and recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a high quality shabu experience! The service is amazing as well - the owner Arnold is super nice and the main guy at the counter Dayton is our new best friend. :P
On Tuesdays and Sundays, Shabu Wara offers an ALL YOU CAN EAT experience, if you choose to avail. They have a standard a la carte menu too. On our most recent visit, we went for the AYCE. There were 3 options - Basic ($69pp), Deluxe ($89pp), or Premium ($109pp). Take a look at the photos of each of the menus so you can see the differences between the 3 options. The deluxe and premium have the Japanese A5 Wagyu Chuck Eye Steak, which is the appeal for those higher end options.
We went with the Deluxe option this time and were not disappointed. Here's a breakdown of what we tried: Japanese A5 Wagyu Brisket Japanese A5 Wagyu Chuck Eye Steak Full Blood MB9+ Australian Wagyu Brisket Full Blood MB9+ Australian Wagyu Chuck Eye Steak American Wagyu Karubi Seafood platter (tiger shrimp, scallops, salmon, mussels)
Of these items, of course we loved the Japanese A5 options which just melted in our mouths, but our personal favorite was the Australian Wagyu Brisket! In fact, we'd probably come back just for that one. It's not as fatty as the Japanese A5 options.
There's plenty of parking where Shabu Wara is. We heard it gets super busy on weekends so maybe swing by for dinner on a weeknight. We've never had a wait and you can be right up in the bar area! Highly...
