This review is not because of the taste, but the attitude of the receptionist, she can speak Chinese, but pretended not. My husband is 70s and his English is not very good. Because the name of this store is similar to another famous chain store, we confused with the other chain store. My husband asked the her for a combo of 4 fish fillets. The receptionist said she didn't understand at first, so my husband and I communicated in Chinese and told her that we would like a fried fish combo. My husband wanted to confirm with her if it was 4 pieces of fish fillets, but she still pretended not to understand Chinese. Then she patted the sign in front of the cash register and said that the combo included rice and macaroni. However, when I asked her in English if it included vegetables, she tried to correct me that it was cabbage. I didn't expect to meet a so-called compatriot and felt discriminated against by the language. However, she was still very enthusiastic when serving other customers whose native language was English. Personally, I don't recommend Chinese people who are not very good at English to go to this store, because it will make you feel deeply. I heard her talking to two chefs in fluent Chinese. Later, my husband asked her for sause and spoke directly to her in Chinese. She also replied in fluent Chinese, "Thank you for your reply." Although you may not want to know all the facts, she was impatient with serving an elderly person. We all know what the facts are. There should be other Chinese-speaking customers visiting your store, right? And people are not fools. Thank you for an...
Read moreIt's been about a year since I've been here. I used to come more often. Coming back after a while, I noticed it's not the same a I remember...and not in a good way as far as the food. Most of the menu choices are the same, but on a newer looking menu board. I don't know if this place is under new management or ownership, but aside from the newer look, the food quality isn't as good as I remember. I've never seen before the guy who took my order and I won't say he was rude, but seemed unpleasant. I noticed one new menu item they had was wings, which I thought I'd give a try. He asked me if I wanted a spicy mango or ranch. Thinking he meant a dipping sauce, I asked if I could have both, and he simply said "No" without any explanation, so I opted for the ranch to balance out the seasoning of the wings. It turns out that he wasn't asking about a dipping sauce, but the actual flavoring/seasoning of the wings themselves! Who makes wings and covers them in ranch?!?! This place.🤦♂️ Needless to say, they weren't really that good. Now knowing this, if I ever do go back and give it another shot, it'll be just to try the mango flavor. A little more clarity and courtesy...
Read moreOne of the better Hawaiian BBQs I've tried. The cashier was also very friendly, so I'm not sure what the other reviews are talking about. A lot of these negative reviews are quite sad, as they're complaining about basic aspects of Hawaiian BBQ as a cuisine, not the restaurant itself.
I highly recommend the katsu mix, which comes with 1 piece of short rib, katsu pieces, and a bunch of BBQ beef. It's rare for these restaurants to include short rib and katsu in a single dish without having to custom order, with some HBBQ not even offering custom orders at all to achieve this combo (cough Ono)...
This restaurant delivers what it promises and doesn't sacrifice its identity to appease uncultured folks. Portions are also humongous. I usually devour HBBQ in one sitting, but I had to split this one into two meals. I'll be adding it to my regular...
