Our first and last time we'll eat at this over rated, faux fine dining Italian restaurant. As we were walking to our table our server asked us what we'd like to drink. This, without knowing what our choices were. My wife chose to order a beer and I had to ask what kind of sodas were available as they weren't listed on the menu. The server had trouble remembering what was available. Our drinks finally arrived and my wife was served a bottle of beer with no glass. Surprising considering there were white table cloths, white cloth napkins and my wife is drinking beer from a bottle instead of a frosted beer glass. For our meals we chose the chicken Alfredo and pepperoni pizza. As we sat and waited for approximately 20 minutes, I was approached by our server and told they were out of pizza. This, right after another server brought out a pizza to an adjoining table. 20 minutes after I order my pizza I'm told they are out of pizza after bringing one to an adjoining table. I told our server to cancel our order and we would be leaving. I paid for the beer and we left the restaurant. We had heard so many good things about the restaurant only to be very disappointed. The dinner rolls were undercooked and doughy. The service was basic. All in all this was a...
Read moreAn acquaintance recommended Johnny's when we asked to eat at a decent inexpensive restaurant. We were greeted nicely and our order was taken promptly after we asked what the specials were. We didn't catch our waitress's name but there were only 2 working on Saturday night. I'm on a no meat diet and they had a make your own pasta. I got spaghetti with marinara and added an insalata to the meal. I tried out the tomato vinaigrette and it was pretty good. My dish was a decent portion and good. I didn't have to add salt or pepper to either one. The kids ordered a Philly steak sandwich and a meats work pasta. The bread as an appetizer was magnifico with and without the whipped butter it was served with. Sorry forgot to get a picture of it. We also tried the Italian cake and even though we don't like coconut or nuts it was pretty good with the raspberry, caramel and chocolate sauces drizzled on top. We couldn't decide on a topping. The price was good for 3 people. It also included one drink. We'll be back to try something else. Another patron had pizza and we were eyeballing that while we waited for our food. We got there a little after 800pm. They close at 900. We left about 910-920pm. We...
Read moreHonestly probably the best Italian we've had since we moved to OKC. I had the salmon Bella Donna on a recommendation from the server, spouse had the Marsala chicken. Both dishes were excellent. For appetizers, we had the calamari, the fried zucchini, and the garlic cheese bread. The breading on the zucchini was a bit heavy and oily, but the flavor was really good. The calamari was pretty standard, really. We also got a pizza and they were happy to do a half-and-half, with some special order bits like "crispy crust." That was also very good. (The ranch was pretty meh, like it was out of a bottle or something, but that was the only thing!)
The waitstaff seemed kinda busy, which does happen at a good restaurant. Something else to be aware of is this is not a place to try to rush things--actual good food does take some time, and that's perfectly fine. I'd rather have a bit slower and higher quality rather than "open a bag of frozen (whatever), toss it in the fryer, here ya go."
We're definitely adding this place to the rotation, and we'll probs bring...
