For my money, this is the best Mexican restaurant in the NRV. The food here is authentic and tastes amazing. The portions are huge and the quality is top notch. This used to be a food truck, and has expanded into a brick & mortar location. It is really like two businesses in one with this restaurant and Tienda Latina Emily located together. This is super convenient because while you are waiting for your food to be prepared, you can pick out a drink or just shop.
There isn't a ton of seating here and it's a very casual setting so don't go expecting a sit down, family dining experience. Most people grab their food and go, but there are some tables and chairs here if you want to eat right away. I'm sure everything on the menu is great but I'm stuck on the tacos... specifically the Al Pastor tacos. They are SO GOOD. I used to live in a city with a large Mexican population and got really spoiled to having amazing tacos whenever I wanted them. These folks make the same exact kind of tacos I'm used to for a very reasonable price. It's hard to even describe the taste of these... the flavors are very complex and they are pretty spicy but for me, there's is nothing that can compare. They are just the best in the area, if not the entire state.
Taqueria El Paso is easy to miss in its unassuming location on Pepper's Ferry, but if you are a fan of authentic Mexican food, you owe it to yourself to stop by and check them out. It's a local treasure and we need to support these guys and gals so we can keep them in business. Their product is fantastic and unique to the area. Two...
Read moreI am a chinese student who was at VT for 4 years. I liked Taqueria El Paso. The concept of a real mexican taco was something very new to me when I first came to the USA. I hadn't tryed them before. I thought at first, they were a little disgusting. However, I came again to Taqueria El Paso and tryed them for a 2nd time. They were very delicious. I began to really enjoy tacos and other mexican food. I think this place is very good, and the staff were always friendly to me. I came before with my friends, but most of the time I always came by myself and ate alone. I have been many times here by myself and eaten alone. I came once or twice with my friends a few years ago, when i was still at VT.

Read morePassing through and wanted some taqueria. Going off the reviews alone this place seemed great, and the price was on point too. After eating there, however, it's obvious the locals of Christiansburg have never had decent taqueria fare smh. Nothing inherently wrong with the meal, but 2 stars tops for authentic flavor. The refried beans were delicious, yet much darker than I expected. The rice was a pale yellow and almost flavorless, verses a more traditional Spanish style rice. For the main, I ordered the carnitas tacos and the only reason I ate most of them is because of how hungry I was. Mediocre flavors but I appreciate ya'lls enthusiasm. I guess my expectations were the real...
