Mi Tapatia — Restaurant in Roanoke

A few friends and I stopped here for lunch one day on our way up from Gatlinburg back to home. We saw the reviews here and decided to give it a try.

Boy were we disappointed. The food wasn’t that good. I ordered the elote cup/esquites, but it was too sour. The corn was also hard and very watery. I’m not sure what brand of mayo they use, but it’s not good. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. The tacos were ok. They were definitely burnt. They were extremely oily to the point of where you needed napkin everytime you held a taco. The flavor could’ve been way better and was lacking. I’ve had better birria elsewhere.

Overall, I believe this food isnt good. The staff was respectful and attentive. The food was a let down.

Went in to get a quick bite to eat and when I went in clean place not very busy so I got seated and when they bring me the chips and salsa it was cheap store bought chips and salsa not even freshly made then I got tacos was wanting a combo plate or something but they didn't have nothing like that but then to order beans and rice was 4 or 5 dollars so not worth that to me but then got my steak tacos and when I did they was horrible whoever cooked it burnt it up and then tried to fix it but I could tell because it was Lil burnt pieces all through it and I'm one if I don't like what u done for me the first time because then if I do if it was this bad the first time then what r u gonna do to me on the next so I didn't say nothing I just paid and left but will not go back worst Mexican food I have ever had no thanks...

The tacos are FANTASTIC! I've been all across the country and these guys certainly make authentic tacos.

There are areas of improvement to be made though!

1.The tacos need more cilantro The chips are practically pulled out of a baseball stadium. They aren't the right chips to suit the atmosphere. Neither are the chairs or tables. The tacos came on a paper plate for some reason, while the the appetizer was in a regular bowl. Easy fix The cheese/sausage appetizer tasted ok. But the cheese solidified before it even got to me. Chips were breaking as I tried to scoop it up. I would recommend using a much more liquid cheese. Service was kind of slow to get my check
